Q: I own all in small positions with goal to give some growth to a mostly dividend portfolio. With bad luck the only one I don't own is Celestica. I realize this is now the darling. Do I keep these or sell to buy Celestica? My only concern is chasing a hot stock which sometimes doesn't work out. Thank you!

I really like your creation of DOCCKS through amalgamating those 6 Canadian names, and the comparative 5 yr history you've put together of some salient numbers.
I think it might be helpful to also see where the money comes from, and wonder if you would also be able to break down the geographical origin (percentagewise) of each company's revenue and, further, compare those results to the net profit, FCF etc resulting from each geographical source of revenue?

Q: Jeffry Gundlach, on Closing Bell ( MSNBC) after J Powell’s press conference, talked about how easy it is to get 7-8% yields and even as high as 12-13% with very little risk.

More specifically he cited closed end funds trading at 50-60 cents on the dollar.

Would you please provide a few examples of what I could buy.

Do you also agree that the risk is very low.

It appears as if it is trading at large discount to its NAV. Do you see the share price catching up to the NAV?

I have run with CRM for the last four years and it is now 5% of my portfolio. I usually cap individual holdings at 5% and wonder if it is worth trimming it to add to use the funds to add to GOOG(2.0%) currently. Good to see google results last week and assume it will continue to grow. Which of the two do you see having the most upside in 3 - 5 years or should I dump (CGI 2.5%)to add to my google position. I recently started a position in ACN so I will have the service industry covered.

Feel free to subtract the necessary question allocation.

Canadian General Investments (CGI) and United Corporations Ltd. (UNC) are “closed end funds” with a discount to book value and low trading volumes. Both of these entities have been around since the 1930’s.
The primary reason for holding them would be long term growth and stability and not dividend income. I would view them as “ballast” in the portfolio to maintain stability (i.e. low volatility).
In addition, since they hold foreign stocks, it eliminates issues with Foreign Holding reporting (Form T1135) and potential US Estate taxation.
Questions are:
1 – What are your thoughts on either of these as a long term holding in a non-registered account?
2 – Which company would be the better choice?
3 – Would it be better to hold E-L Financial (ELF) instead of United Corporations (UNC) since ELF owns approximately 52.5 % of UNC?
