Q: Hi there, it seems like more and more commentary is stating we are in late cycle. Assuming this means that we will soon see a recession in the next 12-18 months, would it make sense to hide out in a low volatility ETF for the time being? It seemed to have held up pretty well in the 2018 Q4 drop. What are your thoughts regarding this strategy and between ZLU and ZLB which would be preferred to be in, or would you split your portfolio 50/50 for diversity? Thanks!

Q: Hello,

I took a 1% position, total, in these 3 names about a year ago, as a speculative buy. They have all declined, rather significantly since my initial buy, making all 3 names less than 1% of my total portfolio. I have however noticed some recent relative strength. Would you move on or do you see this area as an interesting speculative buy? To note, I also own a 1.5% position in Illumina. Thanks as always

Q: I would like to get your opinion on Verde Agritech's current achievements and what you would like to see them achieving in the next 1 to 5 years. And if you could specifically address several different discussions regarding 1) the speed which they should attempt to increase production 2) the markets they should be targeting 3) the possibility of a dividend at a future point. I would assume a dividend would be a long way off but it is an idea that I find very interesting.

Thank you for your time.

Q: Can you comment on the earnings of Athabasca Oil? Also, I understand its balance sheet has improved since it's recent asset sale. Can you tell me the debt burden it currently has. I am thinking of buying it for a several year hold, awaiting a return of better oil prices. Can this company, with its current balance sheet, survive several years if oil prices stayed down? Thanks for your help.

Q: Hi Gang, good news is I sold most of the above with gains except for COV and KXS, looking closer if I did not the losses would put me in big trouble, over 40% for most of them from the high, I know that 2018 was not a stellar year but I'm 65 years old and can't wait 5 years for these stocks to come back, do you have any thoughts on how to get out before a stock takes a 40% haircut, is a 8% or 10% stop rule help or perhaps farther out. Thanks Anthony

Q: Good afternoon,
I began building an Investment Account with the ETF's approx 10% weight each. I added CGX(for Dividend) and a GIC when I was unsure of what to do.
I realize the overlap with XDV;XIU;CDZ; and the Royal Dividend Mutual Fund. What do you recommend I do with the overlap? Diversification? I would like to begin to add individual stocks. Long term horizon. Have RRSP and maxed TFSA.
Growth and medium risk profile. Thanks Paul

Q: Purchased this back in June 2018 for my RRSP account for some "growth" with a 2% position. Now down 22% - at what point does one say that's enough and move. Can you suggest a possible replacement a little less volatile.
thanks

Q: Hello I was wondering if you know of any ETF's like the ZEB for banks that would represent the insurers either traded in the US or Canada that you would recommend for a long term hold in and RRSP. DRIP eligible preferred.
