Q: In a portfolio with banks at 42% (TD, and National), energy at 35% (TC, Sobo, and Tourmaline) and consumer discretionary 16% (ATD), what companies would you suggest diversifying into? This is my husband's account and he buys and holds. He will be selling Telus and needs some options for telecommunications and more. Could he be more diversified? He is asking my advice but I appreciate hearing from you.

Many thanks.
V.

Q: A couple years back there was some type of change in US tax law that made many LPs subject to IRS withholding of 15% of sale proceeds (non-recoverable), regardless of where the owner lived in the world. The various Brookfield entities said they were not affected, but it has always made me a little cautious. Now BAM is looking at relocating to NY. I realize they are a corp, not an LP, but is there any potential they could get caught up in the withholding issue? I hold BIPC and BN. Any reason for concern here?
Thank-you

Q: My daughter recently inherited a substantial sum of money and would like me to invest such in a mix of companies, both in the US and Canada, with a modicum of international companies. She lives in Europe.
Could I respectfully ask if you could offer your chosen six equities in each of the US, Canada and worldwide (in order of preference), including one or two ETF’s, with a mid term (5 - 8 years hold) term. Could you also provide an entry point for each stock?

I do appreciate your guidance…

Q: “Joe” is getting overwhelmed with maintaining his portfolio and is starting to fall behind on autumn yardwork and home maintenance. His spouse and teenaged kids also find his contributions to family conversations rather repetitive and boring (in their words, he’s all “year-to-date” this, and “multi-bagger” that…).

In an effort to free up some bandwidth and reconnect to his people, Joe has decided to reduce the number of securities he owns to about 20 stocks and a handful of broad market ETFs.

Joe is hoping 5i can help him identify:
~10 favourite stocks drawn from its 3 model portfolios
~6 highest conviction US picks.

Joe wants to maximise returns over the next 7-10 years.

Thank you.

Q: I have to sell some NVDA for balance (thanks for creating this problem in my portfolio!). Can you recomment 5 US stocks regardless of sector that might have comparable growth over 3-5 years? Thanks.

Q: Good Morning Peter, Ryan, and Team,
This is a general question regarding Canadian Depository Receipts (CDRs).
I have read the brochure from CIBC World Markets and I think I understand what they are about and they look to be a decent way to own high quality US stocks within a $CAD RRSP,RESP, or TFSA.
I was hoping to get your expert opinion of these securities and the currency hedging component ?
Thank you so much. DL
