Investment Q&A

Not investment advice or solicitation to buy/sell securities. Do your own due diligence and/or consult an advisor.

Q: I am 74, retired with a good pension. 20% of my investment holdings are in laddered GICs, 6% in HFR. Remaining portfolio is in equities. If interest rates are expected to level out over the next year or 2, would you consider moving some fixed income funds into longer term fixed income? Keeping the same ration of fixed to equities.

Thanks very much,

Mike

Q: Hi Team,
Any idea on why ATZ can't seem to catch a bid lately? Especially on a day like today...it's still down when other stocks in the sector are up today. I don't really understand where the weakness is coming from as everything in their last release and the future prospects looks points to the company firing on all cylinders so to speak. Should a person be looking at adding to a existing position here soon? Thanks

Shane.

Q: I'm currently overweight financials. Mainly due to new positions in BN/BAM/TD. With over 21% in financial broken down as follows would you begin to trim or consider BN/BAM diverse enough not to be a financial and thus reducing the overall financials concentration to 13.5%

BNS - 2%
BAM -2%
BN - 4.5% been growing this position (ideally want it to be 6%)
EQB - 1% new position
GSY - 2.5%
JPM - 2.6%
TD - 2.21% new position
Visa - 4.23%

10 year investment horizon.

Your thoughts are appreciated

Q: i was looking for a better return than what the banks were offering on there money market td was paying me 4.05% on there tdb8152 money market account. i noticed today that cibc was offering 4.94 % for a monthly rate with a minanium $100.000 investment. on there cib238 money market rate. my question is why would a person invest in a return of 4.05% vrs 4.94 % other than the $100 requirement. how much more risk would be involved if i went this route. thanks

Q: Good morning 5i
Yesterday i asked about a replacement for Magna and you kindly offered tfii and ats. I like these suggestions. But, the problem ( nice to have such a problem) is that i am already quite overweightin tfii and am also overweight inthe industrial sector. So, i am hesitant to buy ats. Do you have an equivalent for ats? Any other sector is ok, although my technology holdings are high. Also a US stock would be ok. It may not be the right mindset but i would like something with growth that can help recuperate some of my loses on mga
Thanks
