Q: Slate Office Reit got an uptick today following quarter results and various initiatives. What is your opinion on all the moving parts here and including the Wafra involvement which I can not evaluate. Thank you.
Q: I have a question about the tax treatment of Canadian stocks that are listed on the American exchange. I own a number of Canadian stocks listed in the TSX that pay Canadian dividends and allow me to apply dividend tax credit in my non-registered account. Ex. AQN, BNS, BIP.un
I'm considering exchanging some of these stocks to the American exchange so that I can collect dividends in US dollars.
Will the dividend tax credit remain in tact in the non-registered account?Would there be any tax with held impact if I made to same switch in my TFSA?

Q: Can you tell me what buying BAM.A entails? I understand their business and what they do but there are so many different tickers. ".A" represents class A voting shares I believe. Since its an asset mgmt company are there any fees similar to mutual fund or anything? Dividends paid in US or CDN?
Q: On May 2nd you mentioned you considered AEM a "bit safer overall" than KL. Sure its 40% larger but both are large and AEM has a notable amount of debt vs KL who has no debt and a notable amount of cash. Can you elaborate on why you feel AEM is a bit safer?

Q: Greetings 5i,
Since I am adding names to my "radar screen", I am curious what companies 5i currently consider to be "best of breed". Could you please suggest one company for each sector, both CAN and US separately.
Cheers!

Q: In May of 2017, I purchased some stocks on the advice of a different service than I5.
Including dividends, my returns are as follows:
CSW.A minus 11%
XTC minus 21%
PZA minus 30%
In hindsight, I should have probably cut my losses at some point.
Do you have a suggested trigger to sell after a set loss percentage?
Do any of the above warrant holding or should I sell and reinvest in similar categories? Probably for another 3-4 years.
Thanks for your advice
John
