Q: I plan to shuffle my RRSP to include your Balanced Equity Portfolio and the three ETFs above. Would you recommend any exposure to bonds through a fourth ETF?

Q: In your response to a previous question where I was looking to replace VWO with a Canadian equivalent, you suggested VEE. The TD Webbroker site shows VWO with a dividend yield of 2.15% and VEE with 1.34%. Can you confirm these numbers and if they track the same index why would there be any noteworthy difference?

Q: I am very heavy on Canadian equities within my corporate investment account. My personal accounts are all a bit heavy on Canadian equities as well. Plan to purchase ETFs to balance. Which of your current ETF portfolio names would you add right now and is there any advantage to doing so within my INC., TFSA, RSP or personal unregistered account. Would invest a 5% positon in the next few weeks. Balanced equity portfolio is the target, 10 year horizon.

Q: My 29 year old son has $40,000 in a tfsa all in cash. So far, he has little interest in investing. I'm thinking as a possible way to get him interested (and to at least get some kind of return) of suggesting to him that he put $35,000 into a Cdn equity etf and $5,000 into a growth stock. (I would really like for him to just put it into say 4 growth stocks but if the whole thing tanks it will be "dad's fault".) He also has his employer DC pension plan (2 or 3 years in) in which he's invested in life-cycle funds.

Could you recommend an etf and stock for his tfsa? Or would you suggest some other completely or slightly different route to go with his tfsa? Thank you.

Thank you for the new website. Its great.
I bought VXUS... thank you. I am well diversified with equities and will have some Canadian dollars to spend after I shave some of my winners (which there are many..thank you) in my RRIF. What would you suggest in the form of an ETF? Europe? Japan UK Australia??? etc??? VXUS being international may cause an overlap but perhaps there is one area that you are particularily in favour of?? Do you expect more growth in the near to medium term (3 to 5 years) in any of these areas? Or should I plan this as a long term (5 to 10 year) investment. Thank you for your timely and priceless answers.

Q: I would appreciate your thoughts on how one should diversify his investments geographically, (Canada, United States, and Internationally). What do you think would be the percentages I should allocate to each area? I realize allocation is a personal decision but I'm looking for some kind of general guideline. I consider myself to be an average investor and therefore willing to accept some risk.
Being a member of 5i, and following your guidance, I think I have the my Canadian investments under control but I would appreciate some help for the U.S. and international allocations.

Q: Hi,

I am looking for a good emerging markets ETF. In my screens there are so many to choose from and many with high Dividends, along with very strong gains, which of course I like. Since I know nothing about which countries and sectors to look for, could you recommend 2 or 3 good Emerging Market ETFS, preferably with a solid dividend and high growth potential, and also at a value price if possible. I am not overly concerned about risk and have no exposure in this area. Thank You.

Q: I am considering using ETF's to widen my coverage beyond Canada. Could you recommend three or four ETF's that would cover Europe, Developing markets and perhaps a US based ETF as well?
