Q: When purchasing a US stock (FB as an example) which account should it be purchased in? My US account where the cdn money is transferred to us or vice versa

Q: I have a small amount of cash in my TFSA as a result of dividend income. I have less than a full position in the above companies either as a result of smaller purchases or because they have dropped since purchase. (HWO) Which of the above would you add to? Thank you, Rod

Q: At the beginning of each year I like to invest in my tfsa first as I feel its the best investment vehicle I have. But my portfolio is very Canada heavy due to some selling at the end of the year. So I have a bit of dilemma in that I have funded my tfsa but the stocks I'd like to buy are american for diversification reasons. I do have a few Canadian stocks I'd like to buy but it will only add to my lack of geographic diversification. But I know my tfsa is not the best location for US stocks from a tax efficiency point of view. So my question is, what do you think is more important? Adding geographic diversification right away (buy a US stock in my tfsa) or the tax efficiency of my portfolio (Buy Canadian Growth and buy US later in the year).

Q: Hi 5i team,
I would like to purchase two ETFs. One for developed Europe and the other for Emerging Markets. I would use US$ for these purchases. Please advise your top pick for each category. And what is the minimum portfolio percentage to make these purchases meaningful? Thanks.

Q: A very hearty thanks to 5i. I am up a total of 16.3% in 2017, well above the TSX.
I hold all the equities in your model Balanced Equity portfolio (although not in the same weightings). I also have a 5% holding in ZLB which has done reasonably well for me (up 72% since Sept. 20, 2013) but since I already have most of my portfolio in Canada, I was thinking I should switch it to a foreign ETF. I am currently have small holding of ZUE at 3.5% of total, ZDM at3.2% and VEE at 2.9%, all three totaling just under 10%.
Would you agree with switching ZLB and into which ETF if so. Or would you have other suggestions. I am not particularly afraid of volatility as long as the investments are solid.

Q: Hello 5i
Happy New Year!

I am looking to move cash from savings into a higher ROI investment yet not add very much market risk. With Savings offering 1.5%, I feel with a small amount of risk uptick an investor should be able to increase return.
An example of one selection as likely candidate, I have been looking at PPL.PR.K - rate reset 2021, minimum 5.75%. current yield @ 5.47%
Would you think BCE, EMA, KBL and/or ALA.R suit this consideration.

Would you please offer a few ideas for this ROI Upgrade that may be suitable for this effort?
While I am aware any desire to increase in return will drive an increase in risk and one needs to be careful to not reach too far for yield, what additional comments or thoughts would you have for this type of investment move?
