Q: I recently bought some DFN.PR.A at $9.22 which pays a 5.5% dividend monthly. It "matures" on Dec 1, 2024 at which point my understanding I can redeem the shares at $10.. According to my calculations my return should be 9.81%. Is my return calculation correct and do you see much risk since it own the 15 biggest companies in Canada that pay high dividends?

Q: I've noticed that there are a lot of questions recently related to the various entities in the Brookfield empire. I initially thought it was overdone until I realized what a mess Brookfield has become in general. In my case I don't see my preferred X shares listed in my TD Waterhouse self directed account anymore. Have they been restructured? It's really hard to figure out what the heck they've done.

Q: hi. I am still holding AQN. it represents about 3% of my portfolio now. I am considering selling. can you provide me 5 names of dividend companies ( dividends 3.5% or higher please) that you feel will have decent growth ( hopefully gaining back the capital loss from AQN's slide). they do not have to be sector specific, just your highest conviction names, regardless of sector.
cheers, Chris

Q: My portfolio tracking analysis suggested I purchase fixed income assets - as much as 30 percent. Do you have any suggestions where to start - as I’ve always traded in equities. Are there corporate bonds I should purchase if so what timeline? Or simply ETFs which would be preferred and which ones?

Q: Happy New Year to all the 5i team!

Question for you: should we be adding to ILF for emerging market exposure? It's dropped the past year with most everything else but is paying a monster dividend now (like 12.7 % going off of trailing year's payments). Am I missing something?

Should we be looking at something like ZEM instead?

Thanks!

Q: Hi team,

Looking for strong growth names in my tfsa, I have been considering cheap stocks with potential. An alternative approach would be to look at names which have been doing very well this year and which still have momentum and potential. Grateful for your comments and some names which have wind in their sails.

Q: What does most companies do with the excessive cash they have on hand. I know dividends and share buybacks are common. I'm wondering if they are allowed to invest it in other stocks or assets. Right now, could be a huge opportunity just like after the 2008 financial crisis.

Q: Wesdome has been trading more or less sideways since early September and does not seem to be participating much in the current uptrend for gold equities that started early November.

I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts about its recent performance and whether your views of it for 2023 have changed any since the last time you were asked to comment.

Thank you, and my best wishes to you and the team for the holiday season!

Marc.
