Q: I want to set up an investment account for my 3 year old grandsons. Since they are under 18 how do I do it. Also do you think GSY is a good choice to start with considering they have 15 years before they access the account.

I would appreciate your comments on 2 or 3 that I might consider.

Q: I am trying to ensure my portfolio is appropriately balanced to deal with both the inflation we're currently facing and the recession most feel is coming in 2023. Should I target a portfolio that is balanced across all sectors and hold on for the ride? Or should I try to strategically overweight/underweight certain sectors? And if the latter, do you have any advice with regard to sectors and timing? Thank you.
Q: would appreciate your opinion re potential.Thanks.Gaston.
Q: GSY stated in their Q4 financials that interest rates would need to rise by 2 per cent before any material impact would be felt in the business (due to floor agreements and fixed rates in place on current funding sources). Since then rates have risen .75 % and it looks like they will increase further. What is your guesstimate of how much higher they will rise to? If your guesstimate is above the 2% threshold, then how badly would that effect the business. How would that change your earlier thought that $125 share price would be an excellent buy.

Q: Hello Peter and team,
Can you expand on your answer please on Topicus and Nuvei? You had indicated these are good growth names but add when there is a sustained recovery in tech.. how does one gauge it? Do we use technical analysis and also it seems that yield curve may flatten should that not bode well for tech? With rising rates, banks are supposed to do well but i see a decline.. Is the view now that only short term rates will go up and long term may not go up much; lastly, do you think Abcellara is a good buy now?

Q: In their earnings release the important take-away was the inquiries by potential new purchases. That is very different from revenues coming in the door. How do you assess promises vs holding this investment?
Q: Thoughts on the quarter for NWC? The market didn't like the slower forecasted growth for the near term.
Thanks...Steve

Q: Mark Leonard said this a while ago:
"When really good companies start trading at 5 and 6 times revenues, it’s time to start worrying.. I hope our shareholders are never in that position.."
Your company data shows CSU trading at 9 times sales. Should we worry?
Mike

Q: I hold the above 2 in the basic materials sector. Both are involved in copper production with Teck about to increase its exposure to the metal materially by year end. Copper is known as an economic indicator and the worry was in late 2021 that a drop below $4.20 would indicate a worsening economy. Currently, the price is $4.57 with a high in 2022 of almost $5.00 so as of now the economic signal has not turned negative where copper is concerned, however the inversion of the yield curve indicates otherwise. With both of these stocks at or near 52 week highs would it be wise to sell now before copper turns down before economic conditions worsen?
Q: I just heard about AQNU. I gather that the yield is 7.87% until June 15, 2024 when a contract to purchase AQN stock is exercised according to a preset formula. What exactly is AQNU - a hybrid? Can this type of instrument be held in an RRSP?
If I'd like to end up with some AQN eventually, why wouldn't I buy AQNU now, get the 7.87% yield, and then on June 15, 2024 receive AQN stock?
Thank you for all your insightful answers over the years - I've learned so much!

I have received shares in the subject stocks and want to decide to add to them creating a partial position going forward. My two questions(oe each) is do I sell these stocks outright at my zero cost or do I consider adding into the position. They both are trading at attractive levels, have analysts' projected earnings increase but do not pay a dividend. Your wise thoughts and any recommendations please
Peter

Q: We have a 10oz gold bullion that was given to us as a wedding present four decades ago. How can we sell it to get the best price? We can try jewelry shops. Go to the banks. Advertise through news/social media. Any other places you can suggest? If we do sell, will there be capital gains or income to report? Thanks a bullion!
