Q: Telus and BCE. TransCanada and Enbridge. I generally try to aim for 5% per holding but I had a concern of too much overlap of these respective stock pairings, so I've reduced the total of each pairing to 8% from 10%. Is this still too much? On a the other hand, would 5% of all four make any sense? When it comes to diversifying in Canadian bluechips, variety is unfortunately limited if one wants dependable dividend growth.

Thanks.
Jim

Q: Hello Peter and Ryan,
We picked up a few shares of BNS on the drop yesterday. After searching for value stocks with a decent dividend we could not find a Utility, Telcom, or Financial stock that was not over-priced with the recent rise. ZUT or VPU also appear to be slightly over-priced for the moment.
If we are looking for value, dividend, and a little down-turn protection which stock is preferred; BCE or CM? Do you have another value stock in any sector that would be preferable to BCE or CM?

Thank you
Debbie and Jerry

I am increasingly concerned about the financial stability and credit quality of several of my investments.
Could you please provide the S&P or DBRS issuer rating or bond rating of : ENB, TRP, PKI, BCE, CSW.A, AW.UN, SIA.
This information is very difficult for me to find and is often quite dated. Could you suggest a source I could use.
Thank you........... Paul K

Q: Hi Peter and team, I'm just starting to look into setting up my RRIF and wanted to ask if 5i could recommend any good reading materials, with respect to what sort of assumptions I should make? Currently my portfolios are producing income which would equate to about the minimum I would consider withdrawing on an annual basis. This will be my only income other than CPP and OAS. Is there any benefit to equalizing my US/CAD exposures when I'm not really planning much travel to US? For example, I could replace my Telus with VZ or my RY with JPM. Thanks again for your great service.

Q: In my portfolio I have following Canadian equities: AQN (4.9%), BCE (4.78%), BNS (4.64%), WXM (4.5%), SIS (3.8%), BEP (2.68%), MG (2.29%), KXS (2.03%), PBH (1.94%), MX (1.92%), COV (1.87%), TSGI (1.76%).

I have a full positions worth of cash I would like to add to my Canadian content and was wondering on your thoughts as to adding to one new stock (ATD.B, WSP, CCL.B, other suggestion), 2 half positions, or adding to my existing positions.

I have a 20 year time frame and comfortable with some risk.
Thank you.

Q: Hello 5i,
I am down 11% in each Power Corp (POW.TO) and Power Financial (PWF.TO) I am holding each for the dividend as a value investor at 72 years with a 10 year outlook. You had suggested replacing them with BCE or something else in answer to someone else's question. Would that apply in my circumstance or should I just keep holding for dividend?
thank you

Q: Good morning,
There seems to be a range of anticipated costs to Bell/Telus should they be required to eliminate Huawei hardware- could you please pass along your estimates as well as the likelihood of government indemnification for these costs. Would you buy Rogers as an alternative.
Thank you.

Q: In the event Huawei and its 5G network are banned in Canada, what affect would that have on the fortunes of the aforementioned telcos?

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

Marjorie recently asked a question about Telus:

"Given the recent news re Huawei, Canada/China problems, and the fact that Telus is very invested in the technology, are my Telus shares at risk? Telus is a fairly substantial long term holding in my portfolio."

Could you please answer the same question for BCE? Thanks for your insight.

Q: With a theoretical projection that a slow-down is nearing, which 5 dividend paying stocks would 5i suggest to your readers that can ride out a market decline and offer a reasonable rate of return on investment?

Q: I currently have zero exposure to the Communications sector. Do you recommend having at least one company from this sector in one's portfolio, even it it already has other dividend-paying companies (BEP.un, SLF, CSH.un, etc)? What is your favourite Canadian company in this sector, and why? Do you suggest staying with a Canadian company to address this sector in one's portfolio, or would a US Communications company be a better option? Thanks in advance.
