Q: Can you please comment on Cerence's financial performance - balance sheet and income statement - as well as their future prospects given the heightened focus on AI and autonomous driving that may be getting a boost from the loosened regulatory demands south of the border. A buy?
Q: I normally keep individual stocks to a limit of 5% of my portfolio in a registered account. However, with ZWC being an ETF, how high do you think I could go, given that it is diversified in many stocks?
What would be an attractive price to buy into ZWC?
If ZWU is also held in the same account, how high could you go for that ETF (as a percentage of the account)? And would that affect the amount of ZWC held in the same account?
Q: Good morning. I bought these 2 last year around July or August in an unregistered 12 stock US account.
AGX is a triple, 9.8% of the portfolio ,CRS a double, 8.1% of the portfolio.
What do you see for them going forward? Do I trim? If so do add to NBIS , CLBT or SRAD. Thank you David
Q: Materials sector in Canada or US
In my 80s and we have very little to no exposure to any companies in any of the Materials subsectors.
I know that at our age we should probably invest conservatively and consider capital retention as imperative, but the advisers we had in our early income generating years had that strategy and we missed out on massive growth.
Since becoming a member of 5i, I have become bolder and made up a little lost ground, so I have some appetite for growth, but steer clear of absolute gambles.
What would you suggest for any stocks in the materials sector, where there is a moderate dividend, but ample room for growth?
Q: I hold an Intact bond in my RRIF and received a reorg notice proposing "to remove the right to accelerate future scheduled payments in the event of a default to improve the quality of Intact's senior debt capital." Can you explain what this is and why I am being asked to vote on such a proposal? Thanks
Q: It seems you don't have it in your companies list, the question is, if one will buy it today will they receive the dividend? What do you think about the strategy in general?
Q: Having held this stock thru the dividend cuts it is coming back off life support. Do you think it could be attractive in time to come as a takeover for a larger utility company ? What say your crystal ball ??????
Thanks Steve
Q: Hello 5i
Seems this company is having trouble regaining its money making status despite showing growth in assets.
Consolidated Net Income is way below prior year and barely dribbling higher quarter over quarter. Are they poor operators and more of this can be expected?
What are your thoughts on this investment and how much more time do you think is required until they can get it in gear?
Q: Hi 5i,
In registered accounts I hold these financials: POW, BNS, CM, EQB, PRL; these tech: TXF.B, HTA and the industrial MDA. I've held them for a long time and I'm pleased with all of them.
However, given Trump may be serious about decimating the Canadian economy (witness latest threatened increase in steel and aluminum tariffs) and likely can do a lot of damage even if he doesn't completely succeed, I'm considering cashing in holdings in Canadian names and replacing with US names through purchasing CDR's (I don't have a US account and don't plan on opening one). A few of questions arise:
1. Do you think my reasoning makes sense, or would it be an over-reaction to make the move regarding all or some of my above holdings?
2. If the move is worth considering, can you suggest CDR alternatives for any of the above names you think should be replaced?
3. If I do replace any of the above CDN names with equivalent or nearly so CDR's, what can I expect regarding dividend income compared to that from the CDN holdings (all of which - except MDA - are currently yielding based high, based on long ago purchase prices)?
Please deduct as you see fit.
Thanks 5i,
Peter
Q: Do you have any insight into whether ZWU might increase or decrease its dividend going forward please? What factors might influence this, and if able to gauge or guess at it, what timeline might we see for a decision to update it? Thanks!
Q: I’m thinking of switching my cash from CASH and HSAV to ZST. The reason is ZST now has a higher yield than CASH and HSAV (3%+ versus 2.6-2.7%)The intended duration is about 1 year.
What are the risks associated with ZST? Is ZST riskier than CASH and HSAV?
