Q: I am not a big fan of gold as a place to be in the event of a disaster (rather be in the banks), and how much of a weighting of 5% would help your portfolio anyways.
Having said that, what is your opinion of OR if one decided to be in gold? Is it suitable as a long-term hold? Thanks

Q: RE: Health care exposure

Hello, I need to add into the healthcare sector to have proper portfolio diversification.

I sold my CRX shares a while back, and today I am looking buying some CVS and MCK shares.

I might buy GUD in the future but right now I want to buy bigger cap companies.

May I have your opinion on these two companies for LONG term BUY and HOLD strategy?

Q: Saputo has been very weak as of late,m with the dairy disputes stock has lost approx 7 percent in the past few trading days alone. What do you think of the situation? Would you step in? Or would you let the waters settle first (as in not catching a falling knife).

Q: Having recently become eligible for the company RRSP matching program, I have a small investment in the Mackenzie Ivy Global Balanced fund.

I am limited in this program to the Mackenzie Funds, so it seems I am stuck with the high MER as a trade off for the company matching.

I have limited experience picking mutual funds and the advisor's picks would have seen me with 55% fixed income at age 35 which I feel is far too conservative given the high MER for this companies funds. As the current value in these funds is insignificant compared with my own funds, I just directed most of the funds to the balanced fund, and skipped the advisors other suggestion with the high bond allocation for the time being.

Is there anything specific I should watch out for when reviewing/selecting funds when my annual meeting with the 'advisor' comes around. If I stay where I am for the long term this will represent the bulk of my RRSP contributions for the foreseeable future.

I held ipl in a reg account for many years and now appears to be range bound .my thoughts are to exit the position and move on .
Any thoughts for a replacement?

Q: I currently have 1/2 positions in MSL,CPH and SVC. MSL and CPH look like dead money with not a lot of growth potential going forward. SVC looks okay. I'm looking to enter a full position with PHO using proceeds from the sale of MSL and CPH (I would keep SVC for now and monitor). For heath care representation in my portfolio, I have a full position in GUD already (thanks 5i)! For a growth oriented portfolio, will this be a good move 3-5 years out? What do you consider an attractive entry point for PHO?

Q: General comment and observation. Ryan Modesto named this company(kwh.un)as a pick while a guest on BNN and it is in your income portfolio etc.. Yet
on the 19th in answer to Christopher you suggest that it is for high risk
investors and only a small position. I have noticed this type contradictory answers before which have left me scratching my head. As the question and answers make up the largest portion of the site and no doubt there are several people with different views giving answers, I feel that having paid good money for this service greater quality control is warranted.

Q: Can you provide me with a list of ~6 high dividend yield companies 5i would recommend? An assortment of small, medium, and large caps with varying levels of risk and potential for growth for me to consider would be great. I would like to take advantage of the dividend tax credit so these companies would need to have their pay out qualify for that. Thank you.
