Q: Why does the Balanced Equity Portfolio spreadsheets
give NFI and others a NR rating when the specific reports such companies give them A,B,C etc.

Q: I am trying to understand how NFI deserves an A- rating. Please appreciate that this is a learning opportunity on my part as I`ve made (too many) mistakes in the past. I see a company that has had excellent fundamentals (i.e. 19.7/20.7% revenue/EPS growth) over the past 5 years but only has a 4.9% revenue growth over the next year. The company's balance sheet is so/so. The companies last quarter was disappointing. The big advantage I constantly read about is its backlog (and this is not a sign of growth). This sounds like a company that was great in the past but appears to have few specifics mentioned about having a great future . What is it that we do not see? Your in-depth comments are appreciated.

Is there a specific AI stock that is advancing methods in the medical field that you know of? I am aware of ROBO but am not sure how much of it is tied to the future treatment of patients. Thanks

Q: You mentioned in an answer that Small Cap stocks tend to get a bump in January or something along those lines. Can you expand on that in regards to how long historically this period has lasted, do Micro Caps also get a bump and might this be a good time or when is a good time to sell out of some of my more risky holdings that I don't want anymore?

Q: There are a lot of positives being written about this company which is nice, but I need to know the negatives in order to come to a balanced decision about whether or not to buy the stock. Do you have a sense of what the Achilles' Heels of this company might be?

Q: I realise this is a bit out of your focus area but I have a quadruple in a British company Games Workshop (GAW). I am wondering if I should sell some shares or hold.

Q: So back in May you answered a question to a guest, and said you had little interest in the stock for the future, since than it has gone from $26 to $38. It won it's court case, has had big insider buying by some fund has been buying a ton of stock and they are buying back stock, analyst on CNBC have also been high on the stock. So have we missed the boat here, or can this still be purchased?

Q: Hi team,
I am back to Square one again. I watched SQ rally hard to the high 40's a few weeks ago when it announced it would accept bitcoin as a payment option for certain customers. That rally faded fast despite the fact that the bitcoin frenzy keeps on going and going. I am not a pure technician in terms of detailed trading parameters but I do follow the technicals for support and resistance levels. SQ is now at $36 which I think is hovering around the 50 day moving average. Is this just a normal pullback and is the buy thesis still intact or has there been some negative news on the stock that I missed?

Q: obviously i get the year end tax loss selling, but i do not quite get the year end profit taking i am seeing in yangarra, the stars group,savaria and some others especially in a strong tape.
oil has held up pretty well, are oils selling off because of pipeline bottlenecks or something else, yangarra has been down 5 days in a row.
please explain the year end profit taking, why would anyone sell to pay the tax. dave

I currently hold all of the balanced portfolio except BYD.UN and CAE, should I open a position with either of these two or should I top up another stock in the portfolio.

Q: I sold Dhx.b for tax loss selling and maybe repurchasing after 30 days. However, the high debt load does concern me. Do you have any alternatives in the consumer discretionary sector at this time. Not looking for a trade but rather a long term hold.

Q: Good morning . Thinking of doing some tax loss selling these are the stocks I am under water on . Are these all good for that or should I just sell some of them. I have a well diversified portfolio and none are a very large position

Q: I would appreciate your advice on how to manage the more commodity based holdings in my portfolio - in this case, sepcifically Methanex although I hope one day to be faced with the same problem with my oil stocks. I tend to be a buy and hold type and only sell to keep the holding below 7% of the portfolio or if the business rational changes. Is this the best strategy to manage MX? You noted in a question the other day that you were unable to ascertain why it was rising in price. Is it best, therefore, to sell some now (I am up 20% - 30%) and keep it as a smaller holding in the portfolio or with commodities is it best to take a more "go all the way" approach and ride the commodity pricing wave so as not to sell this type of winner too early? Implicit in this strategy is the theory that the company will only do well while methanol prices are high and then the stock will drop significantly at some point. Or is my thinking all wrong and I should treat it as I would any other company?

Q: A great starting point to learn what Bitcoin is really all about would be to read the 'Bitcoin White Paper'. Quite technical, but it outlines the foundations upon which Bitcoin was originally constructed. Note that currently Bitcoin Cash (BCH) follows most closely what the original paper outlines, not Bitcoin (BTC). Also, should any investors here be accumulating a sizeable position, they may want to look into secure hard-wallet options like Ledger/Trezor. Do not trust the exchanges to hold any cryptocurrencies for you, transfer them to your own (hard or soft) wallet after exchange. Most lost/stolen Bitcoins are attributable to exchange mismanagement and/or security flaws taken advantage of by hackers.

Q: Hi,
Unfortunately I bought some of these energy stocks back in 2014 and I am down +30% on all of these. I have just over a 5% weight currently in energy (not including ALA, ENB and TRP which I've included as part of utilities). Which do you think I should continue to hold and which ones should I just throw in the towel and sell?? I am a long term growth investor.

Q: I know its out of your scope, but this company was just bought at 12 cents (when trading at 16 a few weeks ago for many months). i have been a shareholder since 2014. I feel like this story was complete ripoff for shareholders. Is there any hope to avoid that horrible deal?

Q: How do you feel about these two names as income stocks with a small amount of growth? In a market correction they should stand up half decently?
