Q: Looking to add TRP ( already have ENB ) to my RRSP for some income but am somewhat concerned if there were to be a recession - would this be considered a "Utility " thus less likely to take a hard hit or would I be better looking at BEP.UN, FTS, AQN or EMA and if so, which would you recommend at this time ? Your opinion is greatly appreciated.
thanks
Q: I know you are positive about the future for KXS, (recently chosen as a top pick on one of the BNN Market Call shows). Just wondering what it is that makes you so positive about its prospects. Also, do you know of any catalyst/s that might help it to move higher in the next few months.
Q: I understand an earnings estimate is an analyst(s) estimate for a company's future quarterly or annual earnings per share. How important is looking forward (ex. 2 yr guidance)? How do analyst(s) derive future earning estimates? Is there any input from the firm itself? Is there analyst bias? Which would you say takes a higher priority... EPS expectations or ROIC past performance when I'm deciding on a investment in a company? Is TD webbroker's "EPS Consensus Expectations" a reliable / reasonable source of information?
Q: Do you see the recent acquisition of eOne by Hasbro increasing the likelihood that DHX Media will be taken out or do you see the company bleeding to death under the weight of its debt and a larger player coming in and scooping up the assets?
Q: 2% position,p/p $43.93.Is it time to add to a 4% position? Do U consider LSPD to be a core holding & somewhat similar to Shop.If I remember correctly,U accurately recommeded Shop @ $65,$125 & $235.Thanks for u usual great services & views
Q: With respect to the above companies, I would like to have your opinion on their potential, and whether you see any imminent issues with respect to debt levels. Please deduct credits as necessary.
Q: CIBC is referring to an 82% payout ratio for WCP in 2019, which is different from the 35% payout ratio you referred to below....which is the correct number and do you view their dividend as sustainable?
Q: I saw Samir Manji from Sandpiper Group on with A. McCreath on BNN on Fri. He made an interesting case for HBC but that is not what I want to ask about. I noticed his Co. also took a position in EXE. It looks like the stock made a comeback off of that purchase. Given how he finds hidden value in these companies I was wondering if you could speculate about what he sees in EXE and how much more value there is. I am attracted undervalued divvy plays by predilection.
Q: I have held XRE for over 10 yr. in RRSP - so, with dividends I am up over 400%. I was thinking of selling this ETF and buying BPY.UN because the latter regularly increases dividends and is a broader based property/real estate holding company. I did not think it prudent to own both: either would be a very small holding in the portfolio.
I have had some recent success in the large cap consumer space in the U.S. with WMT, TGT and HD, with the first two, in particular, getting good traction in their on-line sales. It seems like the consumer is alive and well in the U.S. and recession fears are certainly not showing in large cap retail. I like to stay with what is working in the market until it doesn’t. So, that brings me to BBY. It also has been moving into on-line sales but had a few stumbles a couple of years ago, if I recall. On the tariff front, I am not sure if it sources a lot of electronics from China or not. I really don’t have a strong view on BBY, and while it looks like good value here, I am not a really a value guy. What are your thoughts?
Q: Jeff Parent on BNN put a $4 target on Kingsway Financial (now domiciled in Delaware), which, indeed, has shown six months of good momentum. Fully valued, or room to grow further?
Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
I have owned this stock for years and almost lost everything. However with this run I am above water. Please tell me why it has momentum or is it "fools gold". Ha!Ha! I have little confidence but will be upset if I run away too soon after waiting for years! Do you think it has any further to go? Your thoughts please! Thanks immensely!
Q: Hi Peter. When should an investor buy non-voting shares instead of voting shares in a company? Say Corby. The dividend is a little higher on the non-voting shares. Is this typical?
Thanks
Q: On BNN last week one of the guests stated that insider trading in large oil companies has been rising. Would this fit in with your assessment of the sector and in your opinion does this indicate that it might be time to start taking a position in the oil and gas sector. If so then would you have a few stocks to recommend, perhaps three small to mid cap and a couple of larger ones. Thanks.
