Q: Hi Team,

I have very little bond exposure and would like your opinion on these two ETFs, XHY and ZHY as part of a balanced portfolio? Would you consider these to be a lower risk than an equivalent ETF holding High yield dividend paying stocks?

Q: We would like to set up a RESP for our new granddaughter. If we spread the contributions over 15 years, the CESG is maximized. What would you suggest for annual investments if we followed this approach? Or do you think a lump sum RESP investment now would produce better returns, even if it means forgoing the CESG? Thanks!

Q: The charges are against Baazov & 5 others.Stock prices were up sharply prior to announcement of acquisition----How come?? Do you think that Baazov or Baazov & potential partners will make a bid of $21 now that its price is $15.45???.If found guilty,big fine &/or prison term..There is another suit too.Many problems.Many fund manager & investors are avoiding the stock.This is my humble opinion.

Q: I notice that you sometimes suggest/recommend that subscribers or their young dependents purchase U.S. $ denominated stocks in their TFSAs. I would love to but I don't. The reason -- taxes. Both in the short term and with age ( I am almost 80) am learning the hard way the implications of the T-1135 and the joy of U.S. estate taxes. If I had the chance for a do over, I would put as much of my U.S. equity holdings in my RRSP as possible and later convert to a RIF. Start using the TFSA for a some Canadian dividend grower. Publish if you wish. Thanks for all you do. Bill

Q: Hello,
In your article on option investing you mentionned the value of being diversified. I understood that as being diversified in your portfolio in general, and not necessarily in the stocks which you sell options on. Am I right in that?

I was going to sell options this week on both Apple and CALM this week, to get this diversification. I noticed, however, that i would, at least at this time, get about twice as much for the same amount of money by investing in Calm rather than Apple. So, i doubled up on Calm. Is there a problem in this? That is, did i miss something on the question of diversification?

Q: I have mostly sold all my energy holdings and am considering selling my midstream holdings by mid-2017. Why? Ford Canada CEO states that the auto industry lost 50,000 jobs over the last 15 years and she feels all levels of government should help out to ensure more jobs are not lost. The oil industry lost 100,000 jobs in ONE year and no one flinches. Canadian natural gas is being replaced by Eastern US natural gas. The east imports their crude oil from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela and will not allow a pipeline to transport Canadian crude from the west.

So what investment thesis is left to hold any energy stocks or any stocks reliant on the energy industry?

Q: Element Financial (EFN( has dropped ten percent this week from an already low share price compared to the 52 week high. Everyone seems to like this stock except those investing in it. Do you have an opinion on why it' consistently dropping and is this a good entry point for a longer term investment?
