Q: With all the "green" power talk, I am considering an investment in nuclear power. Would you opt for a uranium miner or a nuclear power producer? What are your top dividend-paying Canadian picks in each category? Is it still a little too early for this? Do you see a better future in other sources like wind or solar v nuclear? I already hold some NG producers, which I intend to keep.

Q: What is your opinion of this fund. It has been declining sharply of late. Would you consider this to be a sell or a hold? In the past it has been a steady 5% income.

Q: Hi, can you please comment on which debt ratios are best to look at for survivability?

For example, debt/cashflow vs. debt/equity vs. debt/marketcap

Even if debt to cash flow is not too high, is there a point where the debt to marketcap is so high that everyone will shy away from it? For example TBE earlier in the year?

Q: Hi folks,Happy Holidays,almost embarrassed to admit but sold Fb way early and rolled it into Twitter twtr/q @ $38. Twitter finally has a Ceo and company is making a profit but stock trading near new lows. Is stock worth holding for the long term?? in your opinion, don't mind hanging on for longer term if there is upside or is this another Tech Wreck;so buy,hold,or sell. thanks as always

Q: 1) I've been lucky enough to own PBH for the last couple years. Frankly, I have no idea why it's been doing so well lately? Should I sell some or buy more?

Q: I am thinking of buying ( what i hope) are a few bargain stocks before the end of the year. Was wondering whether you thought home capital would qualify. I notice that it didn't come up on your blog post on tax loss buys. Would you still see the companies in the blog as the most compelling today? Q: Hi 5i team,

How do you feel about Blackrock (BLK) in the US? Seems with more and more people moving towards index investing, and with the rise of robo-advisors, this would be a good way to play that trend. Seems to have a solid dividend and pulled back a bit recently.

Any comments or reasons to avoid? Perhaps a different company to think about?

I manage my adult son's RRSP. We have a 10% position in FNV that is up 320% from when he purchased it and have no intention of selling it at all.
We also have a 2% position in Goldcorp down 52% and a 2% position in Premier Gold down 56% from purchase.
We like all three companies and think they have good prospects. However we want to reduce the gold holdings a bit and wonder if we should just sell one of G or PG, or maybe sell both G and PG.
1. Which would you sell if you wanted to sell just one?
2. Would you advise selling both and just keeping the FNV?

Q: Hi 5i - I'm looking at adding some larger safe dividend paying companies (to hold for a long time) at reasonable prices - I was looking at H&R REIT, Enbridge and Telus. Do you think these are good buys right now? Or would you suggest any others? Thanks and happy holidays!

With the 2016 contribution at hand what 2 recommendations would you suggest that would deliver the highest yield with low risk for a long term hold? The lack of the dividend tax credit muddies the water.

Q: Am I possibly missing something, I am setting up a portfolio for my Grandchildren over 15 year time frame.
Considering - dis, goog, fb, amzn. Set it and forget it.
With the current US ex, is this a detriment over the long time frame.

Q: I would like clarification on hedging when buying USD securities via a CDN ETF: if the USD is going up and by comparison the loonie going down is it to your advantage to buy a hedged product or not? I am a little confused as I am sure there are times when hedged is good, and others, when it is not? Intuition tells me know is the time for hedged to protect loonie denominated ETF holding USD securities. The ETF XHY holds Us corp.: with interest rates going up in very small increments in the USA this should cause bond yields to go up as people move their money somewhere else - or not?
