Q: Thank you for the wonderful service you are providing the DIY investors.
My question: I would like to simplify a mid- 6 figure RRSP portfolio primarily into VT etf + BNDW (70%-30%) for broad diversification, simplicity, ease of rebalancing, and favourable foreign withholding tax treatment in RRSP. Got 16 years before converting to RRIF. I'm comfortable with VT. However, I have read that Canadians should only buy foreign bonds if they are currency hedged to CAN $ otherwise, there'll be too much volatility. Do I need to worry about this? I ask because unless have to, I want to avoid buying a broad Canadian aggregate bond etf (e.g ZAG) instead of BNDW --- because I don't want to lose global bond diversification, and I don't want to have to convert to US $ for rebalancing purposes. Thank you.
Q: I hold WSP positions in both my balanced portfolio and also in income portfolio. Both portfolios are "balanced" and diversified. In total, WSP is more than 7% when the two are added up for what is in the two portfolios, although less than 7% in the individual two portfolios. My question is this okay as it is or is there a percentage cap for WSP that I should apply for both portfolios?.....Tom
Q: Looking to start a Cdn dividend paying portfolio to provide balanced income for retirement. Have maxed out TFSA and RRSPs. Goal is to have $200k in place three years from now.
What would you recommend?
Thanks for the great service.
Q: Last winter I sold ZPR and replaced it with MFT in my RSP. This seemed like a good move, but recently MFT has slid below my purchase price. It has a great distribution, but with rates more likely to go down than up (?), do you think that MFT will continue to go lower and is there a chance that the distribution will be reduced?
Would you sell or hang on?
Q: Could I get your thoughts on this fund. It seems to be well diversified but it's share price seems to be very stagnant. What fundamental should I be watching for that would move the share price?
Q: Peter and His Wonder Team
What has happened to MND. A few days ago it was trading at $0.12-$0.13 and now it is trading at $1.24. So it looks like the price has gone up 10X. I also notice my share count has been reduced 10X. I have the TD Webbroker program. Has something happened here or is this a technical error. Help please...
I've been shellacked by AIM and CPG and they each are about now only 0.25% of my holdings. Should I just cut my losses here and redeploy what's left of that cash?
Q: Hi Peter and Ryan,
Thank you for providing information on LSPD. I bought half position at around $30. I have been thinking of adding the other half. But LSPD had a good run and kept going higher. Since it has been out there for only a short period of time, I am not sure I should add the other half right now. I would like to get your opinion on it.
Thank you.
Q: I bought CSU in 2012. I made some share transfers for philanthropic purposes in 2015 and 2017, but still have a return of over 1300%. I am trying to decide whether to take some profits or to hold. I would appreciate your advice.
