Q: With regards to Covalon and their contract with Saudi Arabia. They have stated that the current diplomatic squabble does not effect their business. Are you aware of any terms of the contract and/or delivery of product or payment schedule that has or is scheduled to happen? I'm just trying to determine if despite the rhetoric it's not effecting or delaying the terms of the contract.

Q: I realize these are U.S. companies but the NVDA vs. AMD semi-conductor showdown is one of the most interesting investing tilts on offer right now. I have held NVDA for several years. It's my largest holding and I am up 325% on it. It has been a gusher. It has routinely whipped AMD like a pinata. But has the tide turned? NVDA is "only" up 26% this year and is getting thrashed today, post earnings, for having the temerity to only post substantial gains in 5 of its 6 lines of business. Meanwhile AMD has nearly doubled YTD and is now a Seeking Alpha darling. NVDA is clearly a remarkable company but the fastest jet stalls out at some point in a vertical climb. Is it time to sell some or all of my NVDA stake? Given its sky-high valuation do I crystalize profits and redeploy? What's your reading on these two competitors today?

Q: My 20 year old son has been investing based on your balanced portfolio. He has little need for income currently as he has at least two more years in school. Those costs are covered by an RESP. His financials holdings consist of BNS and ECN. Do you see any value in selling ECN and replacing it with either SLF or GSY? Is there any possible catalyst that will start ECN on an upward trajectory?
Q: Hi 5I
You have answered previously that you prefer and have done well by adding to a position experiencing upwards momentum. My question is to what degree that applies , would you overweight a full position (by a little/a lot) ?
I'm guessing you're reply will be along the lines of each situation is different but hey I've loads of credits so appreciate your experience.
Thanks

Q: I purchased a 1/2 position in WEF a month ago, and I am now down 10%. I haven't seen any reports from any of the forestry sectors, about how the wild fires have affected production. Have there been any?
Thank you so much, Susan

Q: With recent quarterly revenue up 45% and EBITDA up 56% and a very low payout ratio is this a reasonable investment going forward?
Q: Could you list the micro caps that you have listed in your portfolios?
Thanks for your service?

Q: I like the idea of New Look Vision rolling up prescription eye glass companies. I just spent a lot for a little bit of plastic in front of my eyes. I'm not sure why BCI does not perform better. Are there a lot of intangibles in their balance sheet. My real question is whether hearing aids are part of their business. If not is there a similar company that specializes in hear aid companies?

Q: This is for my wife's RRSP, she is now 70 and will soon have to start withdrawing. Have recently sold J&J and have about 17K to re-invest. For the US portion of her portfolio she currently holds: AMTD; FB; AT&T; MSF. For stability (preservation of capital), some growth and growing dividends which of the above which you recommend without regard to sector. If you can suggest another or even two securities with better overall qualities that meet my requirements, I would appreciate your suggestion.
Q: Philip Aug 16 might want to check out ECN.pr.A
Q: Hi 5I,
If I'm not mistaken the US is slowly opening up to online gambling which clearly will benefit TSGI . My question is more related to the psychology around how fast or slow these markets are opening up. After all Vegas and all the casino operators exist so gambling itself is not a problem. How does it differ being an online industry ? I never could work this bit out.
Thanks

Q: Peter’s question on August 17 made reference to the trimming by 5i of pho and kxs for portfolio management purposes. Are these changes published on this website and available to subscribers? Thanks
Q: Can you please provide in depth analysis on competitive advantage with savaria. Also what other companies are looking to grow in this space across globally
Handicare is looking to expand into North America... any insights? They reported decent results this quarter.
Thx for your service.
Should be a public question.

Q: CPD Normally price of prefs will go down when rates go up. The lower price increasing the rate of return to compete in the market.
I’ve been trying to get my head around the newer minimum rate reset prefs. What would be the effect on such prefs of rising and/lower interest rates.
For example let’s say the current 5 yr bond is1.75%,
What would be the effect of the rate at reset if the rate is 2% vs say 1,50%
Use ECN.PR.A for your explanation.
Correct my assumptions if I’m wrong.
Thank you,
Roy

Q: Last year an airline in Europe gave us a Wirecard for taking a later flight . We used it for shopping and restaurants and then cashed in the balance for Euros at an ATM . Great concept that has grown incredibly according to Handelsblatt . Is there an ADR or even an OTC listing for this ? Is there a similar card in North America ?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Hi 5I
It has been my experience for the last few years that around the 2ND half of August my portfolio (hopefully we'll diversified both by sector and geographically) sees high volatility and drops only to pick up in September where it left off as nothing happened,! Just curious to know if there is any known "effect" (like a Santa Claus rally type event) that exists or whether it is just an odd recurring feeling that I'm experiencing.
Thanks
