Q: I am looking at the above companies highlighted in your recent comments. Could you please rank them in terms of a) highest growth to lowest over 5 year time frame b) least to most risk. If am missing another favourite please let me know. Thanks for all your great advice. Brian
Q: ABC recently reported its annual and 4th qtr results. Operations looked good but they booked a massive reserve for their opioid problem which completely wiped out the company's equity. Yet some analysts have upgraded their forecasts. Presumably this didn't breach any loan covenants but I worry that it might impede future borrowings or restrict future dividend payments etc. I understand that actual payments are to be spread over many years but I still worry that it is a big negative.
Your thoughts will be appreciated.
Ian
Q: The market reaching new highs while we are still in pandemic mode has me moving more defensively to take some profits now, and move to holding more cash (yup- i know i am not supposed to try to time the market, but is this not another version of buy low and sell high instead?) . What do you think about using cash to buy 5-10% of my total portfolio with so-called black swan investments, rather than having cash sitting around waiting to be deployed for the next market drop?
Q: I currently hold BCE, and I was wondering if it might be worthwhile to sell BCE to purchase Cogeco, as there was previously an offering by Rogers and Altice to buy the remaining shares at what sounded like roughly a 60% premium to current prices. I know the offer was explicitly rejected, but could this mean that either another offer is on its way, or perhaps that there is significant untapped potential in Cogeco? If this is a worthwhile trade, shares of CCA do more volume than CGO - would that be the more prudent purchase? As always, I appreciate your insight, and look forward to reading your comments. Thanks again!
Q: I’m looking for a steady company with dividends to barbell more growthy names. What are your thoughts on these 2 companies that have corrected or would you recommend others in Canada or the US? Thanks
Q: My wife and myself hold 365 shares in NFI in our TFSA and are down 69%. Yestereday, NFI re-affirmed 2020 guidance, but was less confident about 2021. Even though held in NFI, should we continue to sell all or some of the NFI shares or just ride it out with a dividend yield of 5%?.........Tom
Have owned this for a few years and am almost at break even. i see in one of your responses that there are better companies to own. i was thinking of switching to cca. What do you think about this and do you have any other suggestions.
Q: I have to add US tech exposure (missed the boat) and only 4 percent which translates to $350,000. I already have 60 holding (total portfolio) which is already high but I’m ok with it given the size of my portfolio. Which would you pick? Should I just buy all 4 at 1 percent holding increasing to 64 holdings or pick just 1 or 2?
Q: Investing can be such a joy at times (sarcastic). I set a target price to sell GC knowing it had debt/investigation/no dividend, and covid numbers rising. That target price hit on Tuesday and I sold. What a pleasure to wake up Wednesday to see a big jump from a takeover bid. Man did I ever time that perfectly!
Paul...grrrrrrrr :)
Q: I am always looking for the contrarian angle
Preferred shares are being talked about.
Can I purchase an etf? Or do I need to purchase individual shares?
A couple choices would be appreciated.

I have been holding FSZ for a while and it seems that it does not react to the ups and downs of the market , for the last 5 months it seems to be forming a base around 11 cad , do you think there is a good chance it will break to the upside anytime soon ? Thanks
