Q: Morning you fabulous people,

My TFSA is heavily tilted toward tech and growth.

I'm gearing up for 2025. I see Orcl has had a healthy small consolidation.

I already own the big players. Is Oracle a buy in its current range?

Outside of the mag7, PANW, ANET, AVGO.

Do you have a compelling buy to add at a reasonable valuation in the broad tech sector.

Please deduct accordingly.

Thank you so much.

Q: MFC has just recently surpassed its previous peak in 2007 around $44. This was a long time coming, but it is struggling to stay above this value. Normally I feel that it is a good sign when a company that breaks through a previous high. Can I have your thoughts on MFC at this time, and why it may be a different company than it was 15 years ago.

Q: Could you comment on Civitas's valuation decline, are investors still concerned over 3rd quarter revenue miss or Jefferies target price cut?
Should we expect a cut to the dividend as stock price falls? Would you suggest this might be a 'safe' investment and a good entry point?
Thanks for all your great advice, much appreciated. Ted.

Q: I’m thinking of a trade with BCE stock. My thinking is even if management cuts the dividend by half I will be making 6% with the likelihood the stock price will go up what do you think of this trade. Also what do you think of the new asset Ziply and my understanding BCE is using funds from the sale of the sports teams to Roger’s so how bad is there balance sheet really?

Q: I am starting a non-registered portfolio. I would like exposure to the US tech market.
Here are 2 questions:
What are the tax implications of an ETF? (I have read several suggested documents in the Questions section of your website but I am still not sure about the tax cost). Are there any costs other than the MER to hold an ETF?
I am looking at XSP, XUS, VFV.
Thanks.

Q: Can you suggest 5 or more Canadian dividend tax credit eligible companies that may be suitable for a long term leveraged account. Where the return on those assets could be expected to exceed the cost of borrowing over the long term and with a relative margin of safety.

Q: Good morning,

I can’t believe I am asking another question on BCE, but here we go.

The ~10% move lower over the last week….In your opinion is this year end tax loss selling capitulation, or do you think the market may be sensing a dividend cut?

Thanks as always and Happy Holidays.

Q: We own shares in a bunch of TSX listed Canadian companies like the banks, SHOP and AEM etc that are also listed on the NYSE. I feel the USD is going higher or perhaps I should say the CAD is going lower. The same may hold true for the European and Chinese stock exchanges, with all the currencies going lower against the USD. At some point I wonder if the Federal reserve will start to lower interest rates if the USD goes too high. Mr. Trump will be happy!
Not sure if it makes sense to shift the TSX traded stocks over to the US side of the ledger. We also own a lot of US listed stocks on the US exchanges. In away the low CAD has made the purchase of CA stocks using USD cheaper! What's your take? Any thoughts you have would be appreciated.
Regards,
Jim
