Q: This question is about Capital Gains Tax. Over a 5 year period I ended up buying a single stock at different prices in 3 separate accounts...Cash, Tax Free and Rif. So when I sell I am not sure what buying price to use. For example if I sold the stock in the cash account do I use the purchase price in that account or must I use an average of the 3 accounts. I guess the purchase price does not matter in the case of the Tax Free or Rif? Thanks for your clarification!

Q: Hi,
I own DND and its trading at around $48,69. The offer to go private is at $50,50. Here is my thinking, Why would I sell at the current price if the worst case scenario is the buyout at $50.50? The other option is that there can be a higher bid, or this whole thing of going private just falls apart, which might stall the share price, temporarily. Not to confuse myself nor you, I am thinking if the best case scenario is just to hold my shares because if they were not intending to go private, I would have had a 5+ year time horizon anyway. Would you agree with my thought process?
Thanks,

Q: Hello,
No questions on TRIL for 6 months now. Stock is moving higher again. Any thoughts on its potential now, and risks?
Thanks for your insight.

Q: I have some cash to invest in my TFSA. Have held PKI.CA for 3 years. Collected dividends and now breaking even on share price. I am thinking of cashing out and buying ATZ as a faster recovery play. What do you think of this switch? What is a good entry point for ATZ since it jumped yesterday and today?
Thanks for all of your wise guidance over the years.

Q: Hello,
You answered a question on TOI the other day stating 7x sales is a bargain and 4x would be very attractive. Can you relate those answers in terms of share price?
Thank you

Q: I have a 1 per cent position in ABCL. Do you think the insider selling is over ?
Is the stock a buy, sell or hold ? I plan on holding this stock for the long term.
Thanks for this great service.

Q: Do you expect a similar success for the issuance of BAMR by BAM as previously materialized for BIPC and BEPC? Do you recommend accumulating BAMR shares upon issuance ?
Thanks
Thanks
Q: Any idea what's going on with IVR today? Up 20%+ on huge volume.
Q: Hi,
Bam PR’d that they will be issuing 1 share as a special dividend for every 145 shares held in Bam. That will leave me with 1 share and some change left over. Do I read it correctly that the new shares will be priced at the same price as BAM shares?
What to do with this singleton?

Q: You have mentioned several times that it is expected that later this year the big banks will be given a free hand in allowing dividend increases, is there any analyst guidance/guesses out there on what sort of increase is 'expected' from the banks over the next 1-2 years (and may be baked in to the share price at the moment). Or is it expected to be more a case of just going back to a more normal cycle of increases rather than catching up.
Q: Sorry, one follow up on my initial question earlier today.
Did you find it odd that NWC has halted before their earnings? I am guessing the stock was halted because of the significant beat? However, in the q1 report, there was zero reference to the halt or to the big beat that you normally see when a company significantly outperforms eps expectation (example: xyz company reports record Q1 eps...)
It probably doesn't mean anything either way. I just thought that was a little unusual.
Thanks.
John

Q: On May 19, 2021 you suggested that those who hold AT&T should continue to hold. Do you still recommend holding this stock? I own this stock for more than 10 years and I am wondering whether to sell and cut my losses.
You also suggested that the dividend could be cut in half. Has AT&T decided what would be the new dividend?
Thank you for your insight.

Q: This one looks like a great pick - thank you for bringing it to my attention. It looks like it has nice growing earnings and yet appears to be cheap when looking at some basic metrics. What is the risk on this one? Is this a case of the market not picking up on the value or is there a reason why it is cheap? I once bought research in motion instead of apple because it looked cheaper. Hence I stopped looking at the cheapness factor awhile ago. Thank you,
Jason

Q: With the new information released today by Brookfield around the Insurance company can you explain what it means. I'm a little confused by the details. It doesn't sound like a spin off where shareholders will own shares in the new insurance company. Also 1 share for every 145 Brookfield shares? Thx
Q: Can you give me your opinion on Kwe and do you have any insight on why the stock is dropping?
Q: Hi Peter, Cornerstone has been a solid holding for us this year and yesterday popped with its division sale to Nucor for $1B in cash. Seems a big deal for a Co with a $2.4B market cap. What do you think ? Is it a good deal or did they give up too much ? Continue to hold or sell ? Thank you, Paul
