Q: Good evening,

I've followed Rick Rule and his reccos for many years now. When he picks right they do great and vice versa.

His top picks recently were SSl, IVN and WAF.

What do you think of these 3? Is there one you like enough to say its worth a speculative shot?

Thanks

Sheldon

Q: For the last eight years my portfolio has been almost exclusively US large capilization stocks. My rate of return has been great, significantly above the averages. I do not intend to change my portfolio away from the US markets for the foreseeable future. Am I making a mistake?

Q: Long term TFSA. I am currently down 11%BNS;26%GUD;8%STN and 6%SLF. Have Plus 10% weightings in all 7 stocks.
Should I add to the (current) losers or add something new or add to my (current) winners.

Q: I want to add a consumer staple to my portfolio, can you recommend a few that might be recession proof? I currently only have consumer discretionary and am wondering if I should dump a few and add a staple instead? In consumer stocks I currently hold PBH, A&W, TSGI and STZ. Would you consider all of those discretionary?

Q: Up nicely on ATD.B and not considering selling but wonder if PKI is worth an add as well. I do not own many stocks similar to ATD so no issues with balancing. What, would the case be for owning PKI and is it one you endorse strongly?

Q: I know you thought the results in February were pretty reasonable but the SP has now declined 40% from its highs last April and the selling seems pretty relentless and a bit more than just "strange". My second time round with the company and unfortunately, I'm looking at a money loser again. Time to cut and run?

Q: Sorry about this...but it's another TSGI question

If this was a brand new company that you were considering and you were making a decision to deploy based only on numbers (8x earnings, 5B debt, guidance where it is) BUT NOT based on past performance, analyst expectations or missed quarters what would your enthusiasm be like for buying? Does the price when weighed vs debt vs projected growth dictate a strong buy? Is growth not good for a company priced where it is or is growth "less than expected" and therefore viewed as bad?

Q: This is a question that could apply to the above companies based on recent results but many others throughout a year. When a company you guys like misses earnings but has a reasonable explanation and the release/conf call doesn't turn up anything wild to be concerned about does it ever not make sense to buy or top up when the market overreacts? GC yesterday was another great example. Your thoughts please on when you would and would not be active buyers following a miss by a company you consider to be of high quality.
