If the big boys bought at 58.80 would a current 53.00 not be "a good deal"

Q: In your response to a recent question you included a remark to the effect that there’s a lot of concern about Canadian banks right now. Would you please expand on this comment in regard to the nature and source of the concern you mentioned.

Q: Worst case scenerio how much downside do you think the banks have in the next four years. RY,BNS and TD are all oversized positions. Thinking of lightening up in non taxable accounts or should I just sit on my hands ? Crystal ball gazing I know !

Q: With the weak Canadian dollar I do not intend to buy stocks on a US exchange. However, it occurs to me that if I buy hedged products on a Canadian exchange (eg. CDRs, XQQ) I will be buying US stocks without suffering the shortcomings of the weak Canadian dollar. Is this correct reasoning?

Q: Very long time holder of TFI. It's been drifting down where it's approaching its 52 week low. Is the current environment (cycle and tariffs) pointing to further deterioration in price? I know it's hard to time market but might it be best to sell and see what happens?The outlook doesn't look all that good right now butI realize TFI is a very strong company in their field.

Q: What is your current view on CCL.B? Do they have a risk with potentential tarrifs? Would you consider it a buy, hold or sell? Is there a preferred stock in this same sector?

Q: Most of my fixed income part of portfolio is invested in TDB8152. Would you recommend any other fixed income product that will be better suited (stability and income). I have looked into TBIL, UCSH and STIP.

Q: Comments on BN earnings release please. Seemed pretty good. What should it all mean for stock performance? Anything particularly noteworthy, good or bad, in the earnings?

Q: All things being equal, which ETF would you prefer for US exposure today with all that's going on, for a 3-5 year hold? A follow up to my previous question, would 50/50 in either maybe a better way to go?

Q: Hello 5i team,
The MG price has gone below my entry price and I was thinking of adding to it. The stock has not moved very much in light of the tariff threat. Since this is probably already priced in, I was wondering how much business MG does in the states? If I recall MG's sales are mostly global. The price not moving much, tells me that the US portion of MG is not that material.

Are you still comfortable adding at these prices or is MG more of a hold until the dust settles?

Q: Good morning, I have enjoyed and benefitted from my membership to 5I for many years. I am no longer in a position to actively manage my portfolio on a continuous basis and have been considering moving the core to an all-in- one balanced ETF like ZBAL or VBAL. I’m a very pleased user of Portfolio Analytics, as well as 5i of course.

Till now, I never changed my allocations using “Custom Allocations”. Previously, I used one of the suggested allocations.

In this era of tariffs, I fear they will throw a monkey wrench into our economy as well as in the US. For example, even though tariffs on steel and aluminum aren’t yet in place, some Canadian firms have already lost orders. “The threat of tariffs is, in itself, a tariff”.

As an example, you recently responded to a member’s question and suggested that the Industrial sector could/would be vulnerable to tariffs.

Please suggest “Trump-proof” sector weightings that takes into account the uncertainty that is rampant with Trump 2.0.

Q: Is GLPI a reasonably good addition to the less aggressive side of a portfolio? GLPI was added to RBC’s Global Top 30 Ideas for 4Q2024 (updated last October). It remains on RBC’s top 30 ideas for 1Q2025 (updated January 6). If GLPI would not qualify as one of your own best ideas, which companies would 5i think of as better ideas for someone with no exposure to real estate? Q: What is A&W projected dividend. In a past question that you answered you stated that it was $1.90 per share but in the report that you just put out the dividend yield suggest a dividend of only $1.50 per share. Which is correct?
