Q: Hi Team: I've a US$ acct. I'm thinking of investing 2% of portfolio on either Baba or Amazon,or both 2% each or none at this time or anything similar you suggest, Your opinion please. Thanks.

Q: My wife and I are in the process of building our retirement income portfolios in each of our RRSP’s by following your Income Portfolio.
My question is would it be advisable for my wife to have a different mixture of equities than I have in my portfolio? We want to keep it a simple as possible but want to limit risk at the same time.
The same question pertains to RRSP VS TFSA. Should my RRSP hold a different mixture of stocks than my TFSA.
To begin accumulating my portfolios, I plan on using the same assets allocation in each account. 50% Equity 50% fixed income
Please answer this question as it pertains to diversification as I know there are many tax reasons why I might hold one equity vs another in these different accounts.

Q: Good Morning: I have been raising my cash holdings somewhat in light of a prolonged bull market with high equity valuations and increasing geopolitical risk. I have some of this cash in HISA's with an average yield of about 1.7% or so. However, I am considering putting some of it into a bond etf since I don't feel I have the know how to successfully put together a ladder of actual bonds. What I would like your opinion on is what would be the best 2 or 3 options in Cdn. bond etfs for preservation of capital combined with optimal yield (recognizing that the two are almost always working in opposite directions.) Of course, if you have another option for parking cash, that would also be appreciated. (I do have some preferred share holdings but past experience has taught me that they are not immune to market corrections.) Many thanks.

Q: Since beginning of June EIF has been buying back shares as well as insiders buying according to TD website. Does 5i sources verify this.I would like to increase my position to 5% as being from MB I am familar with the company. I bought HCG when the company did the Dutch Auction but when the CEO was selling around the same time this should have been a red flag for me.

Q: Good afternoon 5i,
I recently sold AW.UN in my RRIF as I am trying to limit the non-portfolio holdings. Could you recommend a replacement from the income portfolio or should I just buy it back? Already hold most of the Income Portfolio holdings but willing to sell in other accounts to insert in RRIF.Thanks for the always helpful advice.

Q: i am down 10 % or more om tog and hwo . both pay reasonable dividends.if contrary to what may wishful thinking energy doesnt get any better how long can they pay dividends ?should i sell them now.
cbl i purchased a month or so ago at $14 after watching a BNN market call where the host was convincing that due to major sharholder arrangement th stock will close around $18 by end june. it pay an attractive div.
did i understand this correctly.? anycase should i continue to hold cbl

Q: Hi Peter, Is there a co-relation between growth factors and share price. MY screener shows some stocks with great growth ratios Like EPS, SALES AND INCOME growth in double digits but very poor performance ( LIF). Also, some with 2/3 negative growth ratios have stellar performance (BLX).
Am I missing something or the correlation is not straightforward? Which is the more reliable indicator? What is your favorite screening things. Thanks.

Q: To add some diversity to my Canadian holdings, over the last 5 years I've held VUS, VFV and VEF. VEF is about 11% of the portfolio. The 2 US ETFs have outperformed VEF almost 2 to 1.
My question is do you think it's necessary to have EAFE exposure? I'm thinking of selling VEF to raise cash so I'm ready for the next dip in north American markets. Thanks for all of your great advice over the years. cheers
