Q: Hello. As a Canadian resident, how are the dividends from these companies handled in respect of any hold back and taxes? They would be held in a non registered account.

Q: Hi, what does Return on Equity can tell us? Is it an efficient indicator of stock long-term performance? e.g. MO's ROE is very high as 149%, but stock price is flat for many years, could you explain why? BTW, should I use ROA instead of ROE? Thank you for your great service!

Q: If you where to buy one energy stock, what would it be? The only one I have, that is close is Enbridge. Do you think it is even worth buying any energy at all, as it is so cyclical. Every time I buy one, I loose money on it?? My timing is never right.

Q: I have a small profit on KEY but I've been disappointed in the lack of growth recently and I was wondering if I could do better with PPL. Yields are about the same but I would prefer more growth. I already have lots of ENB and TRP in a well diversified portfolio. Appreciate your thoughts.

Q: Don’s question of October 7 asked about Canadian vs. US dollars and whether to buy a stock on the TSX or NASDAQ. While many investors are confused on this point, Don should understand that once he buys the stock (on either the TSX or any US exchange) the future performances of the Canadian and US dollars have no effect on the actual value of his gains or losses. In other words (and for doubters), if you were to decide to split your purchase and buy half the shares in Cdn on the TSX and half in USD on a US exchange, each half of your shareholding will worth exactly the same thing regardless of any future movements in the value of the respective currencies.)

Q: HI 5i, What are your thoughts regarding this company? A couple of months ago this company sold 2billion dollars of shares to another company. With the funds they were going to pay out a special dividend of $7.50 per share to shareholders. I would like to know when I will receive this dividend?

Q: Voluntary lock-ups - Why would early stage investors or VCs, voluntarily extend lock-ups periods in pre-ipo or early ipo-ed companies?

Would they typically receive warrants in exchange for this restriction in liquidity?

Is the motivation by the company to prevent sales of large blocks since they are anticipating a rapid rise or fall in share price?

I know this is hypothetical, but trying to understand the concept/reasoning.

Q: I have be holding Carebook stock for over six months. The stock dipped over the past week and bit from 79 cents to 60 cents, but I cannot seem to find a driver for the news. Am I missing something? Is it a good time to buy more? iA Capital Markets just put a 'Buy' recommendation on it with a $1.60 target due to some new acquisition and other moves, but the stock has been tanking. Again, what am I missing?

Q: What are your thoughts on the recent Canadian Depositary Receipts that are now being made available through CIBC. Seems like an excellent means of gaining exposure to the large u.s. caps for the average diy investor. Any thoughts as to when other sources than CIBC will come into play.

Q: As retirees with moderate risk tolerance, Telus is a 4% core holding in a mainly conservative dividend portfolio. We realize (and like) that Telus Health is a small part of the company. We are considering a 1% position in Well for diversification in Health sector, and would appreciate your thoughts on it. Is this an opportune time to buy, or does 5i expect tax loss selling to put more downward pressure as year-end approaches? Thank you. Edward
