Q: I was thinking about buying some Ceiba Energy as I do not have any Energy exposure. Can you tell me what the debt situation is, and is this in line with this size of company in the energy sector. A guest on BNN said that the EBITDA is increasing every quarter and this was a screaming buy. Is the EBITDA increasing and do you think it is a good buy candidate? I am ok with the small market cap of this company. In your opinion is this a company that can survive another 15% drop in energy that may last 12 months? Once tax loss selling is over, is this a stock that should outperform the broader energy sector on an energy bounce?

Thanks as always and Happy Holidays

Q: Today, Acasti (APO) announced positive feedback from the US FDA and, as a result, its shares jumped about 50%. However, the share price of NTP, which owns almost 50% of APO, rose less than 10%. I would have expected an approx. 25% increase for NTP. Is this a good arbitrage opportunity?

Q: Hi, "Reuters - December 16, 2015 - Canadian cable-TV operator Shaw Communications Inc said it has agreed to buy Mid-Bowline Group Corp and its subsidiary Wind Mobile Corp for about C$1.6 billion ($1.2 billion).
Wind is Canada's largest non-incumbent wireless services provider with about 940,000 subscribers across Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta, Shaw Communications said. "

So Shaw will become the 4th major Wireless Services provider in Canada, if the deal is approved by regulators. How would it impact the business of BCE, Telus and Rogers in terms of possible competition? Which one of the three is expected to be affected most, based on Wireless Revenue/Profits as % of their total business and the geographical base of Wind Mobile ? Do you see this development causing a reaction to share prices of these companies? Thanks for your insight.

Q: Western Canada Properties - almost as unloved as oil and gas. PE is 4.4 trailing, 7.7 forward. 4.71% yield with 27% payout ratio and yet stock has fallen from $19.90 in March to $12.74 today. Seems like a great buy, get paid to wait until the the oil pendulum starts swinging the other way. Whats you're thoughts

Q: I am baffled at the discrepency between forecast and actual numbers of the US weekly oil inventories. This week a plus of 4.5MM vs a forecasted reduction of 1.8MM. Can you shed some light on what could create that much variance on a weekly reported number?

Q: Higher rates are finally here. Since the guessing is over, time to invest in companies with insurance revenue. Could you rank these stocks from "profits the most from the rate hike plan" to "profits the least": PWF, POW, SLF, MFC? If there is too little difference for your taste, could you use the valuations and dividends to help the ranking. Thank you.

Q: What would your top three Precious metal miner picks be?
Read Answer Asked by richard on December 17, 2015
Q: Hi Team,
I was surprised today that Goldcorp and other precious metals miners jumped up. G was up over 7%, presumably on news about the rate hike in the US. Klondex, Mandalay, Agnico Eagle and others were also up quite a bit (so it's not company specific). Can you please comment on the correlation between US rates, US dollar and gold miner prices. Seems like gold itself was down slightly. I would have expected gold miner shares to fall.
Thank you for your insights.

Q: Hi Peter
I own this floating Rate Preferred share issue which pays out a dividend which is based on 70% of the prime rate, it has taken a significant hit to say the least.
Recently it was downgraded to pfd-3 (high) i imagine because of debt risk,i hope this doesn't translate into Junk.
Could you comment on this Preferred share rating and the risk associated with it.
Thanks Gord

Q: I would like to wish the team all of the very best during the holiday season. I hope you will have a well-deserved rest and relaxation and renewal. As no one could have predicted the fall in oil, i like many others have suffered loses. Happily many gains, too! So, I have difficulty understanding some people's complaints on here from time to time. That is the market! I don't believe that there is a comparable service to yours which offers so much for so little. I don't believe there is any other place where you can even ask questions like this and get an intelligent answer so quickly. I find it an amazing service. And I know many others do to. But, onto the question: I am planning to sell sgy for tax loss selling and was wondering whether you thought Whitecap might be a suitable replacement?
