Q: Hello,

I would appreciate your views on TRIN for an investor seeking income as part of a diversified portfolio, and recommendations for alternatives to TRIN in the same broad category if you don't think that TRIN is an interesting investment.

Q: For a conservative investor with a 50/50 portfolio (seeking a 4% yield), what percentage of Fixed Income would you place in short and medium term US corporate Bonds? US PCE is stuck at 3%, while Canadian inflation is almost at target. My thesis is this presents a decent opportunity if there is any improvement in American inflation...while Canadian Bonds already have lower inflation priced in. Even if I'm wrong, does it still makes sense to have some US Bonds for diversification? Thanks as always.

Q: Thoughts on the latest sell off to financials and private equity. Now the AI fear is hitting credit card companies and people are saying two machines can transfer funds without needing credit cards. This is getting crazy as it seems no industry is immune to AI. Are we overreacting, or is the world as we know it going to dramatically change, in which case, what kinds of stocks do we need to keep? What sectors should we lighten up on? What sectors do the screaming buys lie?

Q: A general question of capitulation on your part. At what point to you question your resolve (tenacity or patience) in holding with a company which, more that likely, has better alternatives amongst your many other alternative positions for either short or long term prospects than TRI (as an example) which has had steady MV losses for 3 years?

Q: Regarding my family RESP I set up for my two kids, it will start to be used next year and they will be in school for six years. I was thinking of moving a portion into CDZ for the next few years because I consider it more stable than keeping it in the single stocks that it's currently in. Do you agree or have a different ETF or a few you could recommend?

Q: Hi,
Seems Anthropic is causing quite a few disruptions lately and today their COBOL tool has hit IBM and others. Do you see any reason to wait it out and hold if this could be used as a tax loss in a cash account? I am also concerned about yet another fairly large drop in the price on WSP. Is there any further news regarding it today? Unfortunately I hold that in a RSP account, so am not sure whether to sell or hold, and would welcome your thoughts on this as well. Many thanks for your continued good advice - it is always appreciated!

Q: I am retired and have a TFSA holding 100% equities with no contribution room. My wife is going to open a new TFSA with 10K initial contribution and $400.00 monthly contribution. I am considering starting with and adding to ZGRO.T ,ZGI, ZIA, XEI, VFV. Your thoughts of this move.
Thanks
Roy

Q: Hi 5i
I've taken quite a beating on LMN in a registered account - down approximately 60% on the $25K flyer I took on it back when it traded in the $50 range.
I can afford to carry it awaiting a recovery, but I also think if a recovery is not imminent, I would like to take my losses and put what remains of the 25K to work elsewhere - perhaps in CNQ, TVE or WCP where capital appreciation and income are both realistic over the next couple of years.
What do you think - and if the premise is good but you have better ideas that CNQ, TVE or WCP please advise.
Thanks, 5i,
Peter
