Q: Hi guys! Asking for my parents, hope that's okay, your service has been very beneficial for me. They are currently living off their pension and have $60k in a TFSA that they would like to do something with for the next two-three years. Both roughly 65yrs old. They are looking for both a very safe, and also relatively safe recommendation please. Ideally, they are looking for a fairly hands off approach, where the risk of coming out at the end of it with less than they have is low. They are open to equity investing through a low fee brokerage, or looking at a service like one of the roboinvestor platforms, or anything else you'd recommend. Thanks I really appreciate it!
Q: Hi 5i team,
Peter, I enjoyed your last FP column and your fearless 2021 predictions. In your predictions a year earlier for 2020, you predicted the U.S markets would beat Canada, and they crushed Canada. For 2021, you did not make one for Canada vs the U.S, although you said technology would outperform, where the U.S. has a big edge. While I have a growth and U.S. bias, I did move a chunk of funds back to Canada in 2020 to pick up some value names and some newer tech names. Hence, my question. Who will be the big winner in 2021 – the U.S. with its big tech, healthcare and consumer names (the favourite) or Canada with its financials, energy and materials names (the perennial underdog)?
Thanks again for your insight over the years.
Dave
Q: Sold some of my CSU holdings to reduce overall Tech weighting. Have very little exposure in the consumer space. What is your favorite long-term hold in consumer space right now?
Q: Hi 5i,
This morning both SLF and TD are up 4.5% and 3% respectively with strong volumes. Can you provide any insight to whats happening with these two today.
Thx
Jim
Q: This morning, both Lightspeed and Dye & Durham have taken hits of over 6% however, I cannot find news. I have done very well on both and plan to take profits off the table or would you recommend I exit? Any thoughts?
I sold NVEI last week as it reached my stop and continues downhill. Any news?
Q: The above holdings now represent 10% of my equity portfolio. Should I bring this back to 6-7% or should I let these run? If so,
to what extent? Thanks, Martin
Great advice in2020! Wonderful service. I currently hold KL and ABX at @ 2.5% of portfolio. Looking to add a junior producer to increase my weighting. Which would you prefer from EQX, WDO and BTO and what advantage would it have over the other choices? In addition, having done well with TOU (2%), I would like to add to my gas position. My choice is ARX. Advice or other suggestions please. Existing positions and new purchases would be in TFSA. Please deduct form question credits as appropriate.
To staff and families at 5i - be safe and stay well and thank you.
Q: Happy New Year Peter,
which one of the following clean energy ETFs would you choose and WHY?
QCLN NASDAQW Clean Edge Green Energy ETF
or
ACES Alps Clean Energy ETF
Is clean energy a good sector to be invested in for the long haul?
Thanks
Ron
