Q: The 2021 market hasn't been as fun the 2020 market, though I'm optimistic for a much improved remainder of 2021 - like 2020.

All things considered, if you were to pick up five stocks that have sold off (US/CDN) for a 5 year hold, what would they be?

Q: I’d appreciate your thoughts on SUP (in the USA) and its outlook. On a related note, what other cyclicals come to mind that are still way down from their historical highs but are a good bet to reach them again? They could be small, mid or large caps, but the more upside the better. Thanks.

Q: Hi Peter, in the semi space we have AMD, NVDA, QRVO, ON, and MKSI. Knowing that NVDA is your favorite would you exit or trim any of these ? In Tech what do you think happens if/when the big guys AAPL, GOOGL etc and then the smaller guys report more good earnings numbers ? Will this boost them or are we past that for now ? Q: Where is all the money going? My portfolio is down 9% from Feb high and a look this morning at the sector performance shows utilities as the only Cdn sector in the green, slightly. US market showing same. Is substantial money moving out of N American markets, moving into bonds or other investment types? What's going on?

Q: This looks like one that you have followed a bit in the past. I have read your comments and they expressed much concern regarding the debt. The last earnings release shows improvement on this front. You have also commented positively on the management but I note there has been a recent shakeup. Looking to see if these things, (or anything), has changed your view? They have an impressive client roster.

Q: Hi 5i,
Further to my previous question about return of capital, you mention that some investors, over time, can see their adjusted cost base go to zero as result of return of capital. What does this signify, that you now own it for $0 cost. Would the investor expect share prices to be severely impaired?
I am trying to decide if one of these health funds might be a lower risk way to generate some stable income while providing lower risk to principal.

Q: Hello,

A long time ago, Peter was on Market call and he mentioned a few criteria, which in his books, would make a stock a recommendation.
And then as one of the top picks, which met all those criteria, was STN.
Out of all those criteria, I remember:
1) a company had no dividend and just introduced one;
2) significant insider holding/buying.
3) no debt.

Could you please let me know if the criteria I listed above is correct + if there were other criteria as well?
Also, could you please recommend a few companies in both Canada and in US, which met all those criteria (relatively) recently?
It would be really appreciated companies from different industries/sectors please.

Q: Significant infrastructure is being planned in the U.S., also in the defense sector. Would any of these stocks listed (or others) benefit more or less from this initiative?

Q: The decline in Chinese stocks is of concern, not only the ones listed that have experienced serious erosion. The stocks do have substance within their immense markets even under the 'political cloud'. Should these stocks be sold and avoided?

Q: Hi Peter, Ryan, and Team,

Back in 2014, Larry Berman said: " CMR-T is a money market fund. FIE-T is a multi holding income strategy holding all kinds of assets, so there will be more volatility. When markets are up go into CMR-T and FIE-T when they are down."

I'm asking this question to see if Larry's thesis is still valid. Our broker is Scotia iTrade, and both CMR and FIE are "commission-free" for both buying and selling. What we've been doing is to deploy dividends in our RRIF's into CMR, so that we can generate cash for the compulsory RRIF withdrawals. I was wondering if FIE could also be used, following Larry's advice, while realizing that FIE is more volatile than CMR. Thanks for providing such useful advice and insight.

Q: I noticed on my broker's platform, that there is a borrowing fee is up to 5% for this security. The URB.A doea not have any borowing cost. Just wondering if that is because the majority of voting shares are tightly held by insiders. For now the Voting are not trading at a significant premium to the Non Voting. My question is, where can I find the public info about the current short interest on TSX listed shares?

Q: Hi
I am trying to find out more about the lawsuit against MITEK you reference in your March 16 response to a question from Joel. I found a USAA lawsuit against MITEK which was settled in 2014 and a lawsuit where MITEK sued USAA in 2019 claiming USAA's litigation against MITEK's customers "placed a cloud over MITEK's products and services." Is this the lawsuit you were referencing? Thanks

Q: Please give me your thoughts on the above. The first two are ETFs , and that to me means covering more than one crypto currency ? Could you elaborate on this and what they cover as an ETF ? Their mer's = 1%. What is the diff. between QBTC and QBTC.U and is there an mer on these ? If you were to buy Bitcoin in a TFSA, would it be one of these or would you recommend another one that might have lower management fees. Looking at these 4 on the stock market today, QBTC is up 2.76% while the 2 first ones are up less than 1% ? I certainly like a 2.76% daily increase ! Thanks for any info.
