Q: How do short sellers make money on this stock which has been range bound for the last two years. After they pay the dividend and borrow cost they must be in a losing position unless they trade a lot including going both long and short ?
Thanks for your insight.

Q: What would be your percentage recommendation between XIU and FVF if one were to invest a total of $100,000. My own gut feeling would be 60% FVF and 40% XIU. With Thanks, Bill
Q: I’m 40 years old and I have a portion of my investments in fixed income ETFs. In a rising rate environment, should I reduce my fixed income exposure? Each fund is down about 4%, while my preferred ETF fund is up 10%.
Q: Not sure if this is in your area of expertise. If I expect to have capital gains taxes on death, should I consider permanent insurance? If so, should the cash value portion of the policy replace my fixed income exposure?
Q: From your balanced and income portfolios which would you suggest with $25000 to invest? Income primary but some growth as well.
Many thanks for all you have done and continue to do for us.

Q: Dear 5i Research,
I enjoy reading your watchlist questions. I am 67 years old, semi retired and enjoy doing my own investing through a discount brokerage over many years. I do have a high risk tolerance. My retirement income is CPP, OAS and my stock portfolio in 7 figures divided amongst 6 stocks. I am a very “concentrated” investor having gone from 30 plus stocks and ETF’s to only 6 stocks – Constellation Software (CSU), Alphabet (GOOG), Berkshire Hathaway (BRK-B), Amazon (AMZN), Alibaba (BABA), and Tencent (TCEHY). I follow them all closely. Should I be concerned about my high tech component and rather concentrated portfolio? What type of diversification if any would you recommend?
It would be nice to have a column in the Portfolio report indicating a recommended price range for buying any stock for new money. The "Start Price" column shows the price when 5i added the stock to the portfolio which could have been a long time ago and the current valuation of the stock may be very high in terms of price. Alternatively if the stock is in the portfolio report does it mean it is always a buy recommendation ?
Q: Preferred Shares: How to evaluate risk? How have blue chip preferred shares behaved during previous massive downturns such as 1987 and 2008? Have they gone down as much as regular shares? Thank you for your fine service.
