Q: Not sure how I ended up with his company in my portfolio....obviously I'm not paying attention. Who are they? Are they worth holding? I prefer dividend paying stocks but if theres a bright future I'd hold onto them. I bought QST at 42 cents way back when and have done well with that non dividend paying stock.

Q: Good morning and Happy New Year to all at 5i,
Portfolio Analytics tells me to increase my US and international exposure. Please suggest some ETFs that would accomplish this goal, and at the same time provide a dividend (even a small one) and have growth prospects. This would be for this year's TFSA investments. Thanks in advance for your valued advice.

Q: What would be your best recommendations for investing new funds in TFSA, irrespective of sector?
Q: Hi 5i Team,
I am looking to invest in gold. Are there any ETFs that you would recommend? What individual stocks would you recommend?
Thanks as always,
Jon

Q: Hi team,
I have purchased ARX five weeks ago and am up 23%.Comments from fund managers have been very positive ,with the dividend safe and the debt load not overly large.I am looking for a small cap oil company that also pays a dividend in the 4to5% range, and has solid growth prospects.Could you recommend two or three names and should I sell half my position on ARX?
Thanks, and all the best in 2020.

Q: Hi 5i experts,
I recently am watching the XLK that seems has the same holding company as ZQQ has but the risk is much lower than ZQQ. As a Canadian investor, should I keep XLK instead of ZQQ? which one has better return? and tax efficient?
Thanks,
Alice

Q: In trying to decide which ETF’s to buy, I am concerned with the credit duration of some.
Ex: XTR 3.78 yrs. ZMI 3.77 yrs. VCNS 7.82 yrs
What is the significance of these in view of the current business cycle mainly interest rates.
Also, at this time would you favour an ETF more or less exposed to bonds currently. Is a fund manager able to quickly sell his bond holdings quickly when interest rates rise, what is their strategy ?
Thank you so much.

Q: Class F Capital Shares (the "Federation Capital Shares") . These are offered by caisse desjardins. We have some older "permanent" shares which Desjardins wants us to exchange for capital shares. I didnt buy these and i am not even sure what they are. They almost seem to be a kind of preferred share. Just wondering with your wide expertise whether you know exactly what these are. And more importantly, whether they are worth holding. I am thinking no.
Thankyou for any help and all the best in the new year

Q: Hi, Enghouse shares shot up 3% on Tuesday, with large volume. Do you think that shares are being rerated after staying quiet for a long period? I have read your views on the company and it appears that it's one of your longtime favorites (also included in your list of Top 10 companies to own for next 10 years). Is it reasonable to start a new position 1-2%, at current levels ? We also own CSU as a large holding (10%). How does ENGH valuation compare with CSU ? Thank You
Q: LYB shares APPEAR to be good value. Analyst opinions however are all over the spectrum. For example RBC Cap downgraded LYB to hold/neutral from outperform; CFRA has a STRONG buy. I have reviewed Forward P/E , PEG and other quant metrics. What do you think of qualitative aspects? What is your substantive insight into LYB’s BUSINESS model? Based on what you read and your own thoughts on prospects for global growth, is LYB a good holding? It has been a dividend grower but share price is flat to lower for a while. Do you think chances for growth in EPS, and price of shares going forward, is one better to move on? I checked your previous response to on LYB and am looking for more your current thinking.
Q: I am not clear on your December 23 comment on Gilead. You write that GILD has (or may have been) a “value trap” . You do not say whether your view is to sell. Is it your thinking that GILD is a hold? Or did you mean to say it is likely better to sell GILD? I am not sure how 5i defines value trap and you did not elaborate. One acknowledges that your comments are not advice.... that’s understood. With that in mind, I would appreciate more clarity on your thinking. Several pharma and bio tech companies are frustrating securities to hold. But sometimes the pipeline or prospects make the risk-reward equation such that patience is advised. Is it here?
