Q: Hello
I have 3 x 5i recommendations I should probably move on from AQN (- 68%),
EGLX (- 98%) and ILLM (-81%).

With the remaining combined funds I would need a 350% to recoup the loss back to even - assuming a 5yr min hold what would be 5is thoughts be for sector and position choice to reallocate ? I d prefer these be positions your moderators in fact own.

Q: Retired, dividend-income investor.

I've held NWC since 2019 and have done quite well, averaging roughly 15%/yr. I have trimmed and added over the years. Late last year I trimmed at just under $50. It has since ran to $55 and corrected roughly 20% to $45...now at $47. I see it's P/E range over 5 years has been 7-35-ish, now at 17. I was thinking of topping up again. To me a good price would be $45 and a great price would be $40, even though I'd happily buy where it is now.

From a Trump tariff point of view, my research shows mostly northern Canada, plus USA, then Caribbean as it's markets....any concern here?

Your thoughts on the current valuation, my entry top-up ideas and the Trump tariff would be appreciated....thanks....Steve

Q: Good morning,

I recently became aware that SOBO's dividends can be paid in US$.

Q1. Do you consider it a good idea to journal SOBO.CA holdings in a CDN$ Non Registered account to a US$ Non Registered account so that US$ can be generated in a similar manner as journaling BN shares from my CND$ Non Registered account to my US$ Non Registered account for the purpose of generating US$.

Q2. Do you see any negative aspect or tax implication with this strategy?

Thank you for your thoughts on this and I'll await your response.

Francesco

Q: Looking for investing suggestions for someone in there mid twenties that has a very good job and are just starting out investing, I was thinking buying a few ETFs that auto buy every paycheck through a big bank brokerage arm kind of set it and forget till they figure out if they want to learn more about investing. Also what would be a good basic investing book that teaches how RRSPs and TFSAs work? Is Gordon Pape still around, lol.

Q: Hi 5i team,

I'm looking to deploy some new TFSA money for a 15-20+ year hold, ideally for a CAD stock given the current high US exchange rate. I currently have more tech than other industries with stocks like NVDA, SHOP, GOOGL, CSU, MFST, LMN, TOI and TTD.

I'm looking for some non-tech growth CAD options. Can you please recommend and rank 5-10 options in order of their leadership and balance sheet?

For CAD non-tech stocks, I currently own WSP, TVK, GSY, BN, EQB, ATD, BYD, ATZ, HPS, SLF, TD, TFII, LULU, WELL, CS, and ATS. Would you add or start new positions in your recommendation?

Q: Another question on my semi annual balancing exercise. With the understanding that the rest of my portfolio consists of conservative growth, dividend paying large caps and that I am looking at a 3 to 5 year time frame. Please indicate the those companies you would carry at a 5 % ish level, those that you would carry at a 2% to 3% level and those that you might not carry at all. Much appreciated ram

Q: Everyone, if you were just starting out on a long journey of investing your savings in the market, what would be the first three things you would do? Clayton

Q: Hello
I have been a moneysaver customer for many years. I noticed that the model portfolio has an inception date of 2013. Can you maybe work on another more current basket of stocks bonds given that the investing environment has changed. For example the Canadian preferred index used to be quite popular, however given that rate resets are diminishing and that we are in a low interest rate environment, there may be better alternatives

Q: I have about 10% cash that I am considering putting in U.S. stocks. Even with our $.69 dollar, I don't see any catalysts to improve that over the next few years. I have a good diverse portfolio in both $Cdn and $US, but I am definitely lighter in US exposure.
With the uncertainty of tariffs, Canada with no real leadership for the foreseeable months ahead, the US "Drill baby drill", and Canada not seeming able to attract large international investment, is there anything left to drive growth in Canada?
I am retired, so I want something that should be a little less volatile. I'm thinking of adding to MSFT and JPM, to bring them to a full 5% position. Is this a good idea, and if so, can you also recommend 2 other stocks for me to look at. What are your thoughts on Healthcare, stocks or ETFs, with the new administration? Everything US is inside my RRSP. Thank you
