Q: hello 5i:
I'm unable to view the presentation by the company this morning, but note the stock price drop. Can you comment on the company's view and if the price drop is correlated to the presentation or a general market reaction?
thanks

Q: Apart from a brief scare because of the GOP tax proposals US home builders have been on a consistent winning streak YTD. What Canadian companies would you recommend in that sector, since here building permits have been soaring recently?
Q: Can you recommend 5 stocks which have high growth potential, but currently undervalued or not over-valued for 3 - 5 years hold ? These stocks can be in any sector and can be Canadian or US .
Thanks
Q: What are the risks of in investing in ECN.PR.A? What I am alluding to is that these preferred shares have a guaranteed 6.5% return which is an extraordinary rate of return compared to other fixed income vehicles. To me, this means that ECN must be a high risk company, but from what I have researched so far it is not. Are there any other risks that I am not aware of?
Q: Just following up to my ECN question where I noted the stock has done nothing but go down for weeks now. You noted "It will not be a 'straight up' type of stock, however."
You definitely got that part right as it seems to be a straight down type of stock now.
Hopefully management rolls out their new buy sooner rather than later as this stock is really getting ugly.
Q: Hello,
ECN.TO keeps dropping in price every day so it is a frustrating hold from higher levels. I was wondering if you think it has the potential to become another GSY.TO in time in terms of returns?
Q: Good evening,
I have managed to escape ggi.v before the carnage began. I have a hefty gain in my tax free account and I'm looking for 4 or 5 somewhat risky picks that could provide some real torque. Fitting this profile would you be able to provide any suggestions for me? I currently own gud and pho in my tea.
Cheers
Q: In a 250k investment portfolio we have over 20 stocks. We would like to trim some of the smaller positions and top the others. From larger to smaller holdings HR.UN, GIL, ET, STN, GH,ECN,TCN. 2 to add to, 5 to dispose or 3 and 4. Which would you keep.
Thank you.
Q: Hi,
Can you please give me your take on ECN.TO-do you see much upside with this stock? It seems to be trading below NAV and I was wondering what are upcoming catalysts?
Q: I own GSY in both my RESP and TFSA accounts, somewhat by mistake. I'd like to switch one of the two to ECN for diversification. Would you consider ECN (larger, seems less volatile) as the best fit for RESP and GSY for TFSA? Or the other way around?
Q: Hi there, which of the two stocks do you believe would have greater long term upside? I would be looking at at longterm hold (ie: 5+ years). Thank you!!
Q: The acquisition announced yesterday is very accretive addition to ECN's business. A purchase price of only $100M US adds 22% to net income. ECN raised $2.7B US from asset sales earlier this year, so the war chest is full. Am I missing something (debt paid down from the the $2.7B?) or is this a company on the verge of much bigger things?
Q: Hi 5i team, I know that you are not promoting market timing but I was just wondering what your thoughts are on the following; I am a young retired person with most of my financial needs met with my defined benefit pension. My investments are 100% in equities as I consider my pension to be the fixed income portion. Where the market has been so strong lately and with no recent correction do you think it would be wise for a conservative retired income investor to take approximately 25-50% of his investments and purchase good quality rate reset preferred shares with the belief that during a period of extreme volatility and market correction that these instruments would be affected far less than common shares? The only preferred shares I hold currently is ECN.PR.C. Please tell me if you believe my logic is flawed and if it is not could you recommend a few other good yielding preferreds or other instruments you believe would hold up well during volatile markets. Thanks again for all you do. Mario.
I would like to add a couple of mid cap growth names to my portfolio for a 2 - 3 year hold. Without regard to sector how would you rank ECN, HWD, MX, CJT, DIV and ZCL? Any commentary is most welcome.
