Q: Could I get your opinion on ADN - I am looking at a small position to be held mainly for the dividend with some hope of small capital gains. Can you tell me what their payout percentage is, insider ownership, potential impact by US lumber talks, and is it a take-over candidate (I think I've heard this somewhere)?

Q: I have a question about ATD.B.Was it the increase in debt from the acquisition from Imperial Oil that caused the drop in share price today or profit taking or something I'm unaware of? By the way my portfolio is up more than 52% so far this year, in no small measure, because of your sage advice.Thanks, as always.

Q: Would you agree this still happens daily?

For well over 100 years there have been stock manipulators, stock operators and stock traders...such as one of the classic and considered the best all time operators, and he did it back in the ~1910 - 1920 era, Jesse Livermore who was more concerned with beating the market, specific stocks & futures, than actually concerned about making $$$ even though he could and did routinely make millions in a year back in say 1920!

They, the "movers" will move a stock - buying or selling some - to get it moving and then once other investors, such as retail investors and institutional investors, take notice and start buying into the stock the "movers" starts selling or close their short for a profit.

This is often all that is happening when a stock moves and there is no news or incident to be found. Most "Investors" want to know why for everything but in reality there is nothing to know other than movers doing their daily business of attempting to make $$$ in the market.

There are so many different interests and money making approaches used from around the world.

Not everything is explainable. Such as why GUD or CSU is rising lately. Note CSU is down today as it just hit a resistance level from before. Kinda predictable I think from a technical perspective.

Q: I've been struggling to find out what to do with all the cash I was holding in my portfolios so a while back I used VDY as sort of a money market fund,for me that's pretty conservative. I realize that VDY is basically buying the tsx financial sector, I'm up about 4-5% with this right now but do realize that with a correction in the financials it could come down some. I'm looking for something "safer" to park my money in.

Q: I view EQB as a mini HCG. EQB stock has performed well this year and is near its 52 week high where as HCG has not. Why do you think EQB has performed better this year? Which do you think is a better buy at this time?

Q: What's the reason for the sudden decline in Painted Pony. I bought this stock around $4.50 and have enjoyed the ride to the top. Is this just people taking profit? Or is there something more fundamental going on?

Q: Why does FTB have such a large spread between the Actual MER (.50) and the Actual Management Expense ratio (.92)/ My financial planner is actively promoting it. I wonder if he gets some of the MER as an incentive therefore encouraging him to promote it. Its current yield is 3.4% wile CLF has a yield of 2.9% with an MER of .15 and .17. Do you have any comment on XBB, XSB, CLF, and FTB. Should I mirror the FTB portfolio of the five bond fund ETFs (CLF, XBB, PGL, ZEF, and ZHY) or buy FTB? I assume the yields are after the MER is taken.
