1. Comment on the reasons for market underperformance in this sector
2. Are any of these must owns ? (I know BN is a favourite of your’s, I own a 3% position)
3. Can you rank them in terms of preference for total return over 5 to 10 years? I am open to you including onex in the list.
4. if I wanted to increase my exposure to financial (I am underweight financials, and moreso on the US side), would you look to topping Brookfield or adding a second name?
5. How much sector exposure to this sub sector would you recommend in terms of Portolio allocation for a growth invester?

Q: I found a company that I feel could be long term compounder and would appreciate your opinion. The CEO Brad Jacobs is stellar. Former founder of United Rentals and XPO. The CEO put in 1B of his family money. QXO will consolidate the building supply industry. And modernize warehousing and distribution with tech and AI. The company just started rolling several months ago so its early days. Huge TAM and secular tailwinds galore. Just completed an 11B deal to acquire Beacon Roofing.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: your answORC.B is quite small, and is the 'stub piece' of a company that was sold (Pan Ocean, by the same management) many years ago. So, the team has built and sold companies before. ORC is very small at $55M. Earnings have been up and down, and it currently has $60M net cash. Insiders own 18%. The company has been in a long running dispute with Tanzania, but this was settled this week with more money coming into ORC for natural gas sold in prior years. This is positive but highlights some of the political risk here. Two analysts cover the company. Shares have really underperformed, down 33% in ten years. Despite the pedigree of management, we would have little interest here, though certainly the company could get more active with its cash and this could spice things up if it were to do so. er was
I am wondering why dont we take the company private for no cost and stick 5 million in our pockets. Do you want to go 1/2 and 1/2?

Q: It is difficult for a "non-expert" to invest and follow large tech stocks ,plus the fact that the choice is very limited in CDA in my view .Do you believe that CSU is the safest and most promising "large Canadian tech stock" , if yes ,what would be a great entry point, if not ,any other choice ?
Q: Hello 5i
I noticed one of your answers about Trump tariffs in which you cite Aritzia as an example of how difficult it is to predict which consequences certain actions will have on stocks. Fortunately, I did not sell that company. But, I did sell icln a few months ago, fearful of Trump’s disdain for renewable energy. But, icln has not moved much lower in those several months. In fact, it has risen a little. I wonder if you have any speculations on why that is? I am thinking about getting back in. How would you see that possibility?
Thanks

Q: When is SHOP next reporting? I believe it's this week but not sure. In a previous question, the general expected numbers were 26c and 2.34b. What does 5i expect? What might result in SHOP beating numbers and conversely missing? Its getting beaten down today on fairly heavy volume (Tuesday late afternoon) and has been weak the past while. Is this just SHOP being volatile or could the market know something?
