Q: I am currently down 55% on WEED. I am wondering if I should sell and take my losses now, before tax loss selling, or leave it and ride it out for several years. There is no advantage to me to sell for a tax loss because this is in my TFSA. Thank you!

Q: I have a question about 3092.
Hey Peter:
What is your viewpoint on VLE action in the last month. It was as high as 3.50 and is now below a $1. Is it worth buying more to lower the cost as they have no debt and some say $60M in cash. I saw it dropping due to the political issue with Turkey but they said that has no impact where they are located. Appreciate your viewpoint?

Q: Given the uncertainty surrounding Boeing - and given this company is one of DIA's largest holdings - would you advise replacing DIA with VTI or another broad-based US ETF? Thank you.

Q: Hello,
The family RESP is composed of 15% VGG and 15% XQQ with the balance spread roughly evenly over the remaining stocks listed above. I would appreciate your suggestion for an additional position. The oldest child is 8 years away from post secondary.
Thank-you.

Q: After reading your most recent comments on the TSGI/FLTR transaction, I checked with my broker about the possibility of selling FLTR after the transaction closes in Q3 2020. My broker doesn't handle anything but CDN and USA stock exchanges. You've suggested that selling TSGI nearer the closing date (a year from now) might carry increased risk of share decline. That said, should I sell my $10k investment fairly soon, or sit and wait a while? Thanks.
Q: The issue of mutual funds holding negative yielding global gov't bonds is an interesting one as the size of negative yielding bonds keeps rising. The lack of cash flow to finance management fees, and pressures on portfolio managers to play the yield curve to list a couple of examples sounds very tricky. Have you explored the subject in your shop?
Q: Would you support a 15% allocation split equally between BAM, BIP and BEP? Or is the risk here simply too concentrated? Thank you.
Q: Hi group presently I have a $51,000 capital gain against BYD.un also I have a combined $14,,000 loss in WEF and TSGI. These stocks are all in a cash margin account. My dilemma is WEF quarterly results will be reported first week in Nov should I wait before tax loss selling this sock or do it now? additionally with the stars group being sold what I should I do to lock in the tax loss? Thanks
Q: Concerning the 4 stocks that I own above - are they all cut from the same mold? It seems these and others in the same category are all down between 20 and 30% in the last 3 months according to the information Globe Investor supplies me. Is this the cause of investors panicking or is it something else? I watch BNN all the time and have heard things such as the S&P will be down another 10% within the next 6 months. Thank you. Dennis
Q: Can you suggest any companies in the energy sector that have a (very) solid balance sheet, are paying a dividend, and are growing or keeping their production constant ? I'm seeing lots of high dividends (Surge, Whitecap), but both of those still carry a fair amount of debt.

Q: Hi !
If I hold a canadian stock paying a US dividend in a non-registered account what is the tax treatment regarding US withholding tax and Cdn income tax benefit ?
For exemple, should I hold Algonquin Power (AQN-t) in my non-registered account or in my RRIF or TFSA ?
Thank you for helping in my confusion,
Jacques, IDS

Q: Is there ETF covering communication sector which trade in Canadian currency and on TSX which you would recommend?
Buying US ETF after converting Canadian to US dollars would give the purchase ~ 30 % premium which would be not cost effective

Q: I've been sitting on Pan Orient for a few years now. I've suffered the oil blues during the sector meltdown but this one has done well this year at least. They've had a couple of recent oil discoveries on their Thailand concessions and are starting a new drilling effort for gas in Indonesia. I'm thinking they will soon be increasing their profit notably. Would you hold out for higher gains or dump and move on?
