Q: Your answer today to Roy puzzles me. You seem to indicate that if you have a portfolio generally skewed to income that you could be unduly hurt in a rising rate/rising inflation enviroment. Well isn't buying dividend paying stocks also your protection in that case? Would not all stocks suffer in a rising rate scenario and knowing that in most cases these companies will continue to "pay you while you wait" that you can ride through the storm? If your income keeps coming, isn't the SP unimportant, at least until the market comes back? What am I missing here?

Q: 5i has recommended all companies listed above. Many of your members have expressed concern over each of these companies. As soon as the onslaught begins you have defended all of them. COV is the latest stock - I don't understand your position. You appear to be growth and momentum oriented and get in well after the easy money has been made. You tend to want to stay in all sectors regardless of the climate. Why are we in Canadian health care? GUD is nightmare, RHT was a pump and dump and now COV. These are trades not investments. I have 25 Canadian stocks 10 of which are 5i all double digit losses wiping out any gains on the remaining stocks most of which are not 5i selections. Please remind us what is 5i again and why are we here?
Q: Was looking for an opportunity and jumped in to collect the divy and then got spooked so was in and out it would appear to soon.

Q: Any thoughts on why Quorum Information Technologies stock price is moving upwards. It is up now 50% year to date.
Q: Though US companies are not a mainstay of your work, can you provide an opinion on this company? I have a small position. It seems to have many strong attributes but it is not moving up. Can you suggest whether you see it as one to be added to or whether it should be sold, and please explain why you have that view. Thanks for your excellent service.
Q: Just read the piece on negative interest rates and this question occurred to me. If monetary authorities control interest rates what leverage do bond the "bond vigilantes" have as long as a country doesn't borrow in a foreign currency?
Also, why is it that if rates rise from 1% to3% on a 10 year T-bond you loose 16% but if they rise from -1% to 1% you lose 20%? (see Cullen Roche July 26/19)
Not sure if this is your area of expertise but other members might know.
Thanks
Mike

Q: Hello, regarding Pfizer & Mylan you say that it is an interesting deal. Then how do you explain the negative market reaction of the last 2 days? Is there something investors do not like? Thanks, Gervais
Q: ENB is in my RRSP, I wonder about reducing this position, their problem might be longer term with unfavourable publicity exposure.
A loss position of Hexo is in the TFSA with ‘short sellers’ behind the scene’. I always thought that it would be a better stock, sell or hold?
Thanks Team!

Q: How do you feel about Activision-Blizzard's future over the next 3-5 years? They seem to have been relatively quiet the past little while and their stock seems to have steadied the past 6-ish months. But they've got a very respectable line-up of franchises that are due for some big releases (Warcraft, Diablo, Overwatch, etc.) and a huge fan base. Plus the vague rumours of possibly something with Disney. Is now a good time to enter for a minimum 3-5+ year hold? Thank you!
Q: Hi,
I've owned CNQ in the past and it is approaching a level ($30) that I would deem quite attractive. While sentiment is terrible, do you still see value in the Canadian oil sector long-term? A lot of large international companies have pulled out and pipeline progress has been a disaster. It may take a while for sentiment to change and policy to change depending on election results. Do you still see value investing in Canadian energy or has there been an irreversible structural shift/decline?
Thanks,
Jason

Q: I'm looking for an Emerging Market ETF I can add to my Canadian Open Account. Which emerging market countries are in the best shape debt-wise? I would be interested in an ETF that is over-weighted in these particular countries if possible.
Does the recommended ETF pay a dividend in CAD?
Thanks.
Jim

Q: Covalon has been beaten down considerably in last few months and I see from a few of the questions that 5i has been beaten up a bit over past recommendations on it. I think many investors are similar to myself in that when a trade works out well it is because I am very smart and when it doesn't work out well it is because someone else is not :-). However looking at Covalon it still seems like there is a good path forward for them but will take longer than originally anticipated. At today's depressed pricing would you consider them a good option from a longer term perspective?
Q: FYI. LSPD upgraded by Keybanc Capital Market to overweight & a $45 target price today

Fortis Inc. (FTS)
-
Emera Incorporated (EMA)
-
Northland Power Inc. (NPI)
-
Capital Power Corporation (CPX)
Q: How would you rank these based on valuation, growth and management. Market seemed to yawn at CPX results, it isn’t as high profile as FTS but seems to have gotten more shareholder friendly, sixth consecutive annual dividend increase, wondering if this one and NPI are flying under the radar, Thank-you.
