Q: I am planning to sell my shares in CNR. I have done well holding it for several years but there just appears to be opportunities for better price appreciating than CNR has over the past couple of years. I would prefer to replace it with a Canadian company. It does not need to be an Industrial. I am currently over weight financials. I am ok with some risk. What companies would you consider as a replacement?

Q: I'm looking to close a gap in my non-registered portfolio in the Industrial Sector. I'm not too concerned about industry. I'm looking for some reasonably priced options that you guys like that have good growth potential, but also pay a (growing) dividend. My intention is a long-term buy and hold. Would you please recommend your top 3 Cdn and top 3 US "likes" and rank order purchase preference from 1 to 6 (with 1 being your top pick) and any rationale for your choices that you think might be helpful to my decision making process. Q: I am a bit concerned about TFI price action recently - its down over 15% from high- and barely positive on the year. Any insight on this and is it a falling knife or a buying opp??

Q: TFII has been weak lately. There was a downgrade on Friday that may have been the reason for a big drop. Is there anything to be worried about? I know TFII is a 5i favourite. Can you go over the strengths and weaknesses that might impact performance over the next year.

Q: Retired relying on DB pension. In small cap growth oriented TFSA holding PMZ now above ACB so it is on sell list. Dilemma: where to add the funds to above list of existing TFSA holdings? How would 5i rank existing holdings in terms of probability of highest growth in next 2 to 3 years?

Both BYD and TFII seem to be strong compounding industrial 'transportation' stocks that have stalled for awhile. I seem to recall that TFII is expecting a weak Q3/Q4 before beginning to ramp up again. I'd like to get into TFII but am not sure if it's worth waiting for a further drop in 2024.

Could you please give a quick comparison of the two stocks, including which one you think will grow more quickly in the near/long-term, including suggested entry prices?

Q: The more growth portion of my cash portfolio ( which is full of financials, utilities etc) now consists of BN, GSY and LMN and have been very happy with them ( thanks to you).

Now am looking at one of the 3 highlighted companies. I have not been in oil for years and do not see the price of oil being in an upward trend , however CNQ seems to be favoured by many analysts. I am impressed with TFII earnings in a sector that is experiencing softness. FSV , again , has reported good earnings with their newly acquired roofing business leading the way.

I suspect you would pick any of this 3 as my next acquisition. Should I throw a dart and see which one I hit or does one stand out from the others ?

Q: Hello 5i...with respect to Cdn Industrials...I am looking to consolidate 9 positions into 6 to 7 holdings...thaey are ( largest to smaillest holding ) WSP, TFII, EIF, ATS, CJT, HPS.A, TRI, TVK, DRX, I am looking for some sort of combo of stable growth ( I have good gains in WSP and TFII and will hold, but could trim ) and potential exceptional growth. Would appreciate if you could rank based on growth and how you might see a consolidation effort for these.

One option being considered is to move completely out of CJT and /or ATS to US industrials and looking at potentials FIX or TT... would like your opinion on this move and if you have preference for one or another suggested potential US industrial ( I already hold AXON )
