Q: Hello, I see that CHE.UN is down by almost 10% since the beginning of the year. Is it something to worry about? Is it just normal volatility? Is the stock under attack by short sellers? Q: I'm (still) planning an income portfolio and have decided on the above companies. I think they are solid and the income is attractive. I expect to hold them 5 years.
My concern about all of them is the electric car overhang. I see the trend to E-cars as a long term annual dissipation of the energy sector. Think of a successful 20 year short on the energy sector. There will not likely be a major event, just a gradual decline in earning etc. You have mentioned in another reply that PKI and ATB can use their locations for other purposes, but there's not a lot of uses for an oil refinery or pipelines.
Please provide your views on my conundrum. Thanks.

Q: On BNN this morning it stated our Canadian Stock Market ranked 96th out 100 world markets. Is there any way to find the figure for foreign buying of Canadian stocks and compare these figures to the past. Are we not in play due to Nafta changes coming and fear of Pres. Q: Comment: If it's not "fair" to pay taxes when you withdraw from an RRIF, it's not fair to avoid the taxes in the first place. The trouble we all have in calculating our net worth is we forget about the taxes! The tax deferral just doesn't work as well for those of us with high incomes in retirement. I expect there arr many who think that's a good problem to have!
