Q: Any update on this company?
Q: I know these are very different companies, but would you pick one over the other? Or do you think a bit of both would make sense? PKI is my only energy holding at this point.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Q: If you had to choose between Enbridge and TC Energy - to hold for the next 10 plus years, with the goals of preservation of capital (acknowledging market risk) and overall dividend return during that time period, which one would you choose?
Q: good morning. with most of the banks reporting now for year end and most of the majors making a ton of money again this year can you see that dividends will be allowed to be raised again starting next year or do you see problems in the future.

Q: REITs and REIT ETFs: You do not recommend REITs in unregistered accounts nor in RRSP, is it OK to have REIT ETF instead of REIT in unregistered account in order to do easier calculations if selling ,concerning income tax declaration : I use only the T3 or T5 provided by the bank, is it OK then ? 2) Concerning RRSP the tax rate is usually not high when we are retired since salary is lower so s it OK to have some REITs or REIT ETF in my RRSP?
Q: Would it be worth doubling down on AFN. It's a 2% position and is worst performer in my margin account being down 46%. Still hanging on stubbornly.
Q: I'm relatively new to directly investing in stocks. With the help of the 5i resources and the community QA resource I am well on the way to building a portfolio. I am noticing that stocks seem to have outsized reactions to news or no news fairly regularly. I am hoping you may be able to recommend a book and other resources that will give me insight into the behavioural side to investing.
Q: What is a mixed shelf ?
Q: Your answered on Lspd that you will trim at 7.5%, what price range will be? Many thanks
Q: Hello 5i team:
This is a suggestion and a question!
Not at all hypothetical or a thought experiment.
In the main newspapers G&M, FP and magazines like Moneysense there is a real case history of people who submit their stories and ask for suggestions. Names and identities are of course masked.
It will be nice to see such a feature say once a month in your blogs!
Question: If you were to construct a portfolio(s) with ETFS spruced with some stocks that generates 80k per year, how much capital one would need? You may want to apply your approach of Income/Balanced/Growth portfolio.
Your growth portfolio has done exceptionally well thanks to some highflyers like SHOP. But one can't rely on such phenomenon all the time! Hence my ETFs based approach.

Q: Overall happy with my portfolio, shifted some riskier holdings to more largecap/div arristocrat ETFs to ride out the fun so far this year. Wondering if we are getting to good timing for shifting some assets to more aggresive/targeted holdings. I would like to sell some VIG and replace it with something else. Say 2X 2% positions. What 2 holdings would you buy right now in a registered account to replace VIG, or would you justt continue to hold VIG at this time. Only restriction is to not be canadian but could be CAD$ fund or ETF. Some options I am considering are rbf1067 or XEF for 1 position and the other a US or global/china play stock like baba. Looking for momentum upside as compared to VIG.

Q: All of the above companies have doing well recently and should continue given soon to be arrival of several covid 19 vaccines?
Q: Hello, I was reading about something out west and they mentioned a company by name of Greengate power...are you familiar with this company??
Q: Thanks for this great service. In your answer to Jeff on November 30 you indicate that "6 shares of CSU would probably be the best 'small' amount of shares, to get 11 Topicus shares" which I guess is true for a conversion of 1.8598 and no partial shares. Would it not be better to have 7 CSU and get an extra 2 Topicus? I calculate you would get the following: 6=11, 7=13, 14=26, 21=39 .etc. Sorry if I have missed something but I went away thinking of multiples of 6 but 7 may be better.
Q: Could you confirm/comment, on recent insider buying?
Q: Hello Peter,
I have to choose between PHO and XBC for starting a new position. Which one would you recommend for the TFSA?
Also what do you think about replacing OTEX with the 2nd choice from above?
Appreciate your opinion as always.
