May I have your thoughts on SMX:US (security matters) please? Talk about an absurd chart. Is there something real here in the premise of its molecular-level verification system that is permanent through the processing stages as a form of verification? Or is this more likely a pump and dump?
I only heard about it today, so I'm just staring to look into it and would appreciate your assessment. It's done 1000% in 2 days. Yikes.
Q: Hello Peter and team at 5I:
With many REITS trading at a discount to Net Asset Value, would you please give a list of those you consider good value at this time. Thank you for your amazing service. Barbara
Q: I get an email from Seeking Alpha every once in a while touting various stocks and ETF's . I recently got one on GPIQ { not in your data base } with a rather glowing assessment . For brevity I will just quote their summary ......
" The Goldman Sachs Nasdaq-100 Premium Income ETF offers a compelling blend of capital appreciation and double-digit yield, amassing $2.12B AUM in just over two years.
GPIQ’s dynamic covered call strategy leaves upside partially uncapped, enabling strong monthly income and market-beating total returns compared to peer ETFs.
The ETF’s monthly distributions remain stable regardless of Fed rate changes, making GPIQ attractive for income investors in a declining rate environment.
While GPIQ carries risks tied to tech sector performance and execution, its
proven strategy positions it as a top choice for income-focused investors seeking growth. "
What is 5i's assessment of this ETF and why ? ..... Thanks for your terrific service ......
Q: Looking to establish a position in Bitcoin/Crypto; wondering what your thoughts are on the above companies and what other options there are.
Thank you for your input.
Q: At this point I have no real estate companies in my portfolio as I was concerned about on-line shopping affecting retail REITs, work from home affecting business reits, etc.
Is there anything in real estate that is safe and pays a decent dividend??
Q: Hello,
I am pretty well diversified across sectors, except for Materials, and have missed out on the past year's gains.
I already hold 25 individual positions and am reluctant to add more stocks to follow.
Was thinking of adding iShares Capped Materials XMA as an eventual full long-term position. Thoughts?
How would you approach buying XMA now after the year's gains? All at once? Over 3-6 months? Over the next year?
Thanks as always
Q: hello 5i
Lumen group in Canada is up about 0.34 as I write but in the US (LMGIF) it is up over 7percent. I must be missing something. currency differences can't account for this. What am I missing?
thanks
Q: Suggestion. Would it possible in your Portfolios to identify companies which are foreign (not based in Canada), eg GLXY, KSI. Some kind of flag may be. Thanks.
Q: I’m only interested in Canadian compounders. Compounding companies that are mid to large cap that I am invested in are CSU, TOI, LMN, TFII, and ATD. Can you recommend 5-10 possibilities for 5-10 year compounders in the Canadian small cap space?
Q: Let's say a conservative investor (i) wants to invest US dollars in US ETFs, (ii) wants principal protection above all, for example by investing primarily in BIL.
If this investor wants to move a little bit up the risk ladder with a view to getting more yield, by adding one or two other conservative ETFs (while continuing to hold BIL as the primary holding): what would you suggest?
Q: Knowing someone who works for Palantir I bought in at about 12$ in 2020. I am now seriously contemplating selling those shares for only one reason. The P/E is off the charts. I understand that there is a cult following around Alex Karp and Peter Thiel. However, does it make sense to own a company whose earnings per share are so far away from the cost of a share and where this difference only seems to increase over time.
Q: Would you give an assessment of Erdene Resources. Gold production has started, and the company appears to be expecting a production rate of 7000 ozs per month, by year end.
Thanks.
Q: Hello 5i - please take the number of credits you need. I began investing last year and have the following portfolio/down rounded up: GOOG: 6%, BN 7%, CSU 4%, DOL 4%, ENB 7%, HXS 9.5%, IFC 5.5%, META 4%, SHOP 7%, WSP 5%, AXON 4%, BRKB 6.5%, ISRG 6.5%, NVDA 2.5%, CRM 2%, AEM 1.2%, BAM 6%, H 1%, LMN 2%, AMZN 5%. I have about 40% cash to add in. Can you please advise of the following: 1. any key stocks you would recommend I add? Please prioritize with 1 being highest recommendation and 5 being lowest recommendation. 2. Any stocks you would recommend I sell? I am interested in a 5 year view. Thank you so much!
We currently have IEMG and AIA at 2% positions. Would EMM be a complimentary ETF to increase foreign exposure as it also has NDIA (India) and BRAZ (Brazil),
Would you have any concerns if all three were @2% positions?
Q: Similar to how you don't like giving price targets, isn't having a "starter" position a similar sin? Like how lump sum is better than DCA, wouldn't it makes sense to just go all in (to the goal % of portfolio you'd like to have).
Q: I would appreciate your views of the 3rd q results. I think they were fine and find the selloff puzzling but that's what happens in the small/microcap cap world.
Q: I had been eyeing both of these to add to a TFSA, and they have been rising steadily, especially Couche-Tarde after earnings. Which do you prefer for TFSA for 25 year old? Or, do I add a little of both? Suggested buy price? Thank you for your great work!!
Q: i own barrick stock and options. could you give me your favorite mid cap gold canada or u.s and one small cap again canada and u.s.
i was thinking iamgold for mid cap but i am open to your recommendation. dave
