Q: Unfortunately I bought NWL a couple of months ago and it just keeps tracking down. Is it headed for zero? What are the factors involved in a potential recovery? Just sell and lick my wounds?

Q: Hi, This sentence confuses me: ... {that it has granted options to purchase 250,000 common shares of C-COM to directors and officers of C-COM. The stock options were granted pursuant to the terms of C-COM's stock option plan and are exercisable at $1.16 per share.} It's the (of C-Com to directors) that confuses me. (?)Granted options=Co. will buy 250,000 shares (from/off the market?) for the directors. Thus less shares on the market.) or (for?) the directors.(Meaning the Directors get more shares at $1.16.) Bottom Line are 250,000 more shares coming onto the market once the price hits $1.16? Thanks in advance for some clarity.

Q: In response to the query re: ECI. I, too, have received cash, though I attempted to choose BIP.UN. Thanks. to my broker getting my option to me too late, I missed that opportunity. They supposedly tried a best effort, but obviously it didn't work.

Q: TFII reported strong numbers and increased dividend. There is a halt on the ticker. Can you provide comments on earnings and what they should mean going forward. Also, any idea why the halt?

Q: I would like to derisk my portfolio and pull out of trading equities myself. I am near 70. What mawer products or other etf/mutual fund products can I hold in my trading account that would give a fair dividend , would have preferred tax rate on those dividends and reasonable MER.

I am in the process of looking for a low risk US stock. Dividends are not necessary. I was considering IBM given its leadership in analytics. What is your view? Do you recommend other US stocks, with a 2-5 year time horizon?

Q: I am a retired, conservative, dividend income investor and have 1/2 to 2/3 positions in each of these securities. I trim-add to my stocks when my asset allocation needs adjusting (recently topped up BCE, BNS). I am considering topping up these 4 stocks, but am fully aware that Tax Loss Selling Season will soon be in full swing. Having said that, all 4 of these stocks have already been beaten up a fair bit.

I know you are NOT a market timer, but does your crystal ball foresee further downside as we work our way through the next 2 months of Tax Loss Selling? Using TCL as an example, you just added 1% to your position. I am sure you must have had quite an internal 5iR discussion about "when" to add that position vs. your 10% cash position at that time and the need to deploy some of it. OR...is it as simple as...this stock has been beaten up so much, it has excellent value now, we know we can't time the bottom, so let's just buy it now?

Q: I have a portfolio with most sectors represented except for energy to the exception of PPL and ENB I might want to step in with a half position and wonder if I should go with an etf or rather an integrated oil company or else just a pure producer.

Q: I'd like to put some money in GIC's. Do you have any recommendations? My bank's GIC rates are much lower than the third party rates. There's only a flat fee of $20 to buy them so that doesn't bother me. The best returns seem to be offered by "Manulife Bank" and "Equitable". They are almost double the big banks. I'm leaning towards Manulife. Is there any risk when buying GIC's?

Not a question, but a response to Mike who asked earlier about ECI's status in his account. I looked at my Scotia iTrade account and assume that, in the interim, they are using another "ticker" for ECI; in my case it's E012247. No BIP shares are shown yet.

Q: What is the current situation with regards to the short attack on the company earlier in the year. With the recent decline in share price it has a very attractive yield. What are the odds of a dividend cut? What per cent do insiders own? This company has executed well in the past seems to have good management and their airline business is a near monopoly in the north. The erosion of the share price seems to be more in sympathy with markets in general rather than based on company metrics. Appreciate you comments.
