Q: I know you don't have a crystal ball, but one analyst yesterday says sell SHOP with a US$400 target and a two year runway to better days and another today gives them a US$1000 target with this being a short blip.

In a non-reg account, would you sell for the loss? What would be your 30 day replacement? What would you suggest in a registered account?

Q: I have a question re portfolio allocation. My current plan is to retire in 5 years. I've been lucky enough to accumulate enough funds for comfortable retirement assuming they can grow enough to offset inflation. What would be your ideal allocation for a pre-retirement investor trying to preserve his/her portfolio from inflation?

My current allocation is 10% energy, 10% health, 20% finance, 10% industrials, 15% technology, 5% telecom, 5% utilities, 5% materials, 5% consumer staples, 10% consumer discretionary, and 5% real estate. In terms of geo allocation, I am 33% Canada, 60% USA, 5% developed, and 2% emerging. My risk tolerance is about 20% meaning that I'd be seriously concerned if lost over 20% of my investments during a calendar year.
Does my allocation seem reasonable to you? Any changes (geo or sectors) that you'd recommend here?

Also, thanks to Biden's sanctions against Russia, I expect we will have high inflation (as well as high rates and possibly recession) at least until mid-2023. Do you recommend any temporary adjustments to portfolio allocation during this period of time?

Q: Can I get your thoughts on Corteva's fundamentals and expectations for its upcoming report. Currently momentum looks good - New CEO has been in place for a few months and the stock is one of the few performing well in 2022. How does it look for starting a new position at this time? Are there other AG stocks that you would consider?

Q: What are your thoughts on US bank prices. Specifictly Citigroup it seems very cheap at . .6 times book value. If it wasn't for the war at what price would you see the US banks today. lower, higher or much higher than todays prices. My average price is 55 dollars. Sell hold or buy today.

Q: 1. Can you please provide your analysis of these 2 companies.

2 I presently have a 2% position in ATA, and am considering adding. It has dropped from its high of $50+ to the mid $30s. What are the chances for a good bounce back?

3. in an answer last year, it seemed you were quite lukewarm about SNC. It seems to have held up better in the current down draft. What are its current prospects and do you see it more favourably in its current circumstances?

4. I also have a near 3.5% position in WSP. If it were you, would you add to ATA or WSP, or initiate a position in SNC?

Q: I own WISH as a portion of my speculative portfolio. Last Wednesday it reported what I thought was another good Q - continued acquisitions, rev up 107%, GP up 119%, Gross Margins of 68% (up from 63%). The stock has continued to tank since the announcement and is down 19% from the day before it announced and down over 50% from its 52 wk high. Am I missing something to this story and the stock is indeed undesirable for some reason, or is the market miss pricing this one? They seem to be doing everything right but I may be missing something and would love your perspective.

Q: Peter and Co., AQN is seeing considerable selling pressure. I am cosidering adding to my position for recession protection and selling some of my overweighting in energy stocks. I am a bit cautious as the stock is falling. Also, REFINITIV's analysis gives AQN an overall rating of '5' on a 10 scale. fundamentals rate a '3', valuation a' 1' and momentum a '3'.
Do you have concerns about these low rating? At what price would you see AQN as a great buy?

I have a non registered account solely for Canadian listed US Dividend payers. My timing isn’t great but I need to raise some US cash within the next year. My untouchables are BAM and CSU. Of the remaining 3 holdings which between TRI,BEP and AQN would you sell first.

Q: Hi,
I'm currently holding all of these at a loss, mostly in RSP's - so the loss, if taken, won't be helpful tax wise. I'm aware you are still recommending GSY, but assume that is because at this point it is a reasonably buy. It has been a particular disappointment for me, as I purchased near the recent highs, so I wonder if the remaining capital I have might be better in the energy sector, as I do hold other financials. SNAP and SBUX are looking a bit more like they will take a very long time to show positive momentum - would you agree? Or do you feel it is worth holding onto all of these? I don't need the cash, I'm just wondering if it would be more prudent to stop the day by day reduction in principal, in particular when there are options such as ENB that pay a sizeable dividend in a more positive sector.
