Q: I keep hearing about SPACs and although I am mostly weary as; tbh, I’ve had enough success with the companies that I’ve been introduced from 5i that I don’t really see a point in taking much risk outside of your suggestions. That said, I was wondering if there are any that you find interesting and what you think of SPACs. Thank you

Q: Happy New Year and thanks for everything you do. This year has been by far my best year in the markets thanks to the patience i have learned through the daily Questions and Answers. Just a general question re the markets. I get asked by alot of people who can't get their head around that so many people have been out of work and the gov't continuously dishing out money, but the markets keep on chugging along like everything is good or going to be good in the near future in the world. In other words there seems to be alot of disconnect, thanks?

AS MY OWN OPNIION may not be very relevant, i would like to list below the famous 10 rules of Bob Farrell that have been core how I believe the market (trading or investing) should be regarded

Markets tend to return to the mean over time.
Excesses in one direction will lead to an opposite excess in the other direction.
There are no new eras — excesses are never permanent.
Exponential rising and falling markets usually go further than you think.
The public buys the most at the top and the least at the bottom.
Fear and greed are stronger than long-term resolve.
Markets are strongest when they are broad and weakest when they narrow.
Bear markets have three stages: (1) sharp down, (2) reflexive rebound and (3) a drawn-out fundamental downtrend
When all the experts and forecasts agree, something else is going to happen (this is my favorite).
Bull markets are more fun than bear markets.
And to finish, I also would like to quote one of Charlie Munger best quote:
"It is remarkable how much long term advantage poeple like us (he is probably thinking of Warren Buffet)have gotten by trying to be consistently nt stupid instead of trying to be very intelligent"

No need to answer this question quickly at all please!

I am surprised no one has asked, but is SolarWinds setting up for a nice trade or is this still too expensive? (And too risky based on their fundamentals?)

Given that its products is sticky and its many customers' (government) natural reluctance to use other companies, do you think it is a good bet?
If yes, at what price will you get in? Who is the competition anyway?

Q: Just curious, how would the CRA treat the Topicus spin out if CSU were held inside ones TFSA. Would the new shares count toward the yearly contribution room when they show up, or preferable like an attached dividend?

Q: At what point would you consider Eat Beyond? My husband and I always have a small amount of "fun" money each to buy stocks here and there. I want to invest in the plant based industry somehow. It would not be a lot of money, and I know it's a risk but just looking for your speculation. Could it possibly go up quite a lot in the next 3-5 years? Q: Hi 5i,
Currently holder of CIEN. Since latest earnings Dec 14, stock is up around 15%, while after the last earnings in Sept share price essentially fell of a cliff...I believe because of reduced forecasts forward.
What is your current opinion on the short term and long term prospects for this stock based on latest earings? Would you continue to hold this going into the new year or would you take any profits and re-examine in 2021?

Q: Hi, I'm currently holding NTR, WSP and GSY in my margin account. I've held NTR for a long time since Potash days and currently still down. I've done really with WSP and GSY but my loss on NTR almost equally offsets those gains. I would like to move some of these into my reg. accounts, what would be the best thing to do? I understand transferring any of these in kind would trigger a deemed disposition and trigger a capital gain/loss. What's your long term view of these positions and what do you think is the best way to proceed? Thanks!

Also, is there any website where you can plug in what you bought a stock at on a certain date and it would track what the market value would be worth now if it went through any splits or mergers?

Q: I'm also looking for some exposure to Healthcare. Not many options in Canada. I use to own Medtronic, Abbott and United Health. Are those good places to start in the U.S? Can you rank them in order of preference? Any others that seem appealing? I'd like to stay away from the stocks surrounding the vaccine since they seem speculative at the moment.
