Q: I just opened up a U.S. -TFSA. Could you pls provide me with approximately 4 U.S. companies that would suit this and advise why you would recommend them. Any sector is fine. I have very little healthcare, I like tech, but am open to your suggestions. Looking for stablility and have a approx. 8 yr time frame.
Thank you so much - you are indeed the guiding light for many out there with our investments!

Q: Walgreens announced last week that it will sell it's drug wholesale business for $6.5B. Do you think that deal is good for walgreen and that they will use the money to reduce their large debt ? Thanks
Q: I am trying to increase my international / US stocks allocation with 1 of a few ETFs. I don't need income but some yield would be nice.
How do you feel about emerging markets for the next few years?
Can you please provide suggestions. Would you recommend a large position say around 15% to be meaningful in the portfolio. Long term buy and hold. Thank you for your help.
Q: At 27%, I am significantly overweight in utilities (BEP, BIPC, AQN, NPI, FTS). FTS, at a full position in a non-registered account, has been the weakest performer of late. Considering replacing it with one or two of the following: TRI, GSY, TFII or BAM. Looking for growth, a bit of a dividend and don't mind moderate risk.
1. Is now the time to sell FTS?
2. If sold, which stock (or stocks) noted above would you replace it with?
Thank you.
Q: Hi Peter and team,
If SCR does a financing within days, and the share price drops, do you think it will recover quickly?
Another question: AT vs MGNI, are their business very similar? Which one you prefer in term of growth? or which one you will buy at current price?
Thank you very much,
James
Q: Peter, I have finally got organized and opened us accounts for each family members' registered plans - rsp, tfsa, lira. With the current strength of CAD relative to USD, it seems like a good time to increase US equity exposure. I am using Norbert's gambit to transfer funds from CAD to USD accounts. I have a couple general questions:
- do you see this as a good time to increase us equity exposure both from a currency and market perspective?
- would it be best to concentrate us holdings in the rsp accounts to avoid/defer us withholding taxes (or does this matter)? I will be holding some equities (tech, biotech) and some index funds (e.g. ARK)
- on a related note, is there any disadvantage to holding ARK etfs over their Canadian counterparts offered by Emerge (apart from the latter's higher MERs)?
Thanks in advance and also thanks for your great service.
Q: I would like to use my $10,000 in my TSFA for a technology stock, either software, hardware. I am balanced in my account, so I would like a growth even speculative stock. It can be either Canadian or US
Q: I hold shares in Extendicare and would like your opinion on this company if I should sell them now with many law suits coming and also I understand that there is a decrease in the dividend.
Thank you for a prompt reply
Q: What is your view of BYD for 2021? The share price of this company seems to have been range bounded during much of 2020 after some solid gains in 2019. Is it time to move on? Thanks.
Q: Thanks for your advice as always.
I am a bit confused on CSU. I thought the share price was to drop on December 23rd on the Topicus dividend/spinout date. I don't see it and thankful. Any thoughts on why or maybe when this could happen? I now have Topicus shares in my TD account but they don't show any value yet (probably not until end of January).
My daughter’s TFSA is a mix of growth and stable names. A year or so go I bought TCL.A, expecting a stable company with some growth...but it went the wrong way. Would it make sense to sell TCL and buy LNF or would that be switching one good but slow moving company for a second good but slow moving Co.?
The difference in sector is not relevant and obviously taxes are not a factor.
Many thanks. Robert
Q: I currently have a 2% weight and wonder what your thoughts are for increasing this to 3%, best to leave at 2% and invest in other names from the income portfolio or okay to bring it up to a 3%? I am currently under water on this one so would be averaging down but have a very long time frame before needing the income.
Thanks
Q: Would there be any recent news on the walmart or oracle take over of tiktok or have the courts thrown it out i own oracle and if there is no chance of seeing them buying tiktok i'm wondering if adobe would be a better stock to own.
