Q: I'm an owner in AW.UN, MTY and PZA for income. I have a tax refund and would like to reinvest a few thousand. Each of these are below 5% weighting so I can freely contribute to any one of these.

Which one would you choose?

Q: It looks like LSG is trading in line with TOH, and the takeover premium is build in. I am not sure that I want to own TOH, which seems to be mainly in Guatemala. Is there a better choice, selling LSG now and buying one or two alternatives?

Q: Hi 5i: I am looking for a construction/infrastructure company. I have looked at Stantec, SNC, Aecon and I am not interested in WSP for reasons other than price/performance. Of the first three, which would you recommend? I realize there is a major size difference among them, and I am interested in stability and moderate growth. Are there any others you might prefer?

Q: BNN reported that Pacific Square removed from their report what they said about PriceWaterHouse Cooper. Also, CEO of Concordia discredited the report. Apparently, the short report can't be found anymore. Seems that easy money is being made writing short reports. Can't blame investors for selling after PHM, VRX, AYA, GXI only in 12 months and so many "good" stocks taking the elevator down.

Q: Hi I5, I like both of these stocks, seem to be in the right sector, in my opinion?, what bothers me is their high dividends. Can they maintain the divs? how high is their payout? Any future growth. Like to have your assessment, perhaps your suggestion or other selections.
Many thanks, J.A.P. Burlington

Q: Thanks for your quick response. Little curious regarding what is happening here, and is there anyway you can confirm that there is nothing to be concerned regarding short selling and the auditors report.
This would be a compelling buy here, but reluctant to through good money after bad, and I just purchased a few hundred share yesterday. Little frustrating to say the least.
The talking heads on BNN are suggesting similar problems to valiant at the moment.
Again thanks for your help

Q: Hi, would welcome your latest update on this company. Is it still a good company or your general views on bottlers in general. Was there not a merger happening with this company this year or not? There has been no updates when this is going to close. I'm not sure when or if there are now concerns with the deal transaction. Thanks.

Q: Hope your Easter was lovely. I have owned TGZ from the $3.00 range. Hindsight of course would say should have sold it a long time ago but not having done that and after reading their most recent reports I think that things might get significantly better in the near future. If you agree that the report is positive then I think it would make sense to hold on for a while longer and re coup some of my costs. Look forward to your assessment of the situation. Thank you.

Q: Hello 5i,
I'd like to get your take on Q4 results. Loan book growth and earnings looked good to me; however, should we expect slower growth going forward? Average interest rate decreased rather substantially Q/Q and there was a 450k loan loss provision (which was the first in company history). Is the stock still cheap in your opinion? Thanks

Q: I am a senior with RRIFs and TFSAs. I am not currently living off these but could in the future. I read questions in this space about income producing products such as XHY. These look good but, frankly, I have a great deal of difficulty investing in a product with a total return of just 21.08% over the past five years, or just 4.2% average per year, when I can invest in XST (Canadian Consumer Staples) with a return over the same five year period of 168.8%. Yes, XHY has a great yield but almost no capital gain. And yes, XHY is less volatile but am I wrong, at my age, to be more interested in total return than just yield? I am not afraid of some volatility and am not a believer in the old outdated dictum of holding bonds in proportion to your age. And the total of my investable assets could not produce adequate income if I relied on yield. The standard deviation of the Consumer Staples ETF is still quite low at 0.35 to 1.2 and it has been by far, the best performing Canadian sector of the past 14 years. No, I don't currently own either of these products but may in the near future.
