Q: Hello Peter,
I read your article on 'smaller' US stocks and have been keeping an eye and buying some of your recommendations.
Since then, CGNX has gone up quite a bit. With decent enough results this quarter it has zoomed. It was very expensive P/E multiple to begin with and now even more. But on the other hand, tech stocks are on fire and there is no indication of a slow down.
I am hesitating between CGNX and FLIR, which has also done well. Two different businesses. Where would you suggest I put the money? Or should I wait out the summer for a correction and maybe sector shifts?

Q: Now that we have all the bad news out of the way, can a case be made for holding Cineplex for the longterm, ignoring the current price fluctuation? I had a "stink bid" placed ahead of earnings announcement and I never thought it would hit. At first I felt extremely fortunate. Now I'm reading all of the doomsday articles on Cineplex's future.

So we all know that Cineplex has to, and is diversifying to other avenues other than just movie theaters.

Questions:
Can the company diversify fast enough?
Can the company sustain the (hopefully growing) dividend?
Are you comfortable with their balance sheet?
Is a 3% holding too much for a longterm dividend growth investor who rarely sells?

Q: I have a small position in heo at a 25%loss to date. I am looking at selling and adding either pho or gps for a 1 to 2 year hold. What is your outlook for these 3 stocks and would you proceed with this strategy? If so, which of heo or gps has the better outlook? Thanx.

Q: Has the objectives of Silver Wheaton changed since re-naming to Wheaton Precious Metals? And is it necessary to own both silver and gold from the perspective of a precious metals hedge against risk? I have WPM at a loss and considering selling for tax reasons, and deciding between a shift to SSO or topping up on FNV or AEM.

Q: Hello Folks:
I have owned GE in our portfolio for a number of years however am disenchanted with it's performance, and have limited hope of a shorter term fix, because of it's complexity and size. I do not own any teck stocks and considering google or microsoft. Allowing I am 70 years of age would I be foolish to go with google, even with it not having a dividend. I feel google has much more upside.

Q: Hi, is the following news item material and cause for the further drop in the stock the past few days? Thanks.

TransAlta Renewables Inc. (RNW-T) and TransAlta Corp. (TA-T; TAC-N) issued a release responding to Fortescue Metals Group Limited's "view" that the South Hedland Power Station in Western Australia has not yet achieved commercial operation.

The view was outlined in media reports in Australia.

"All the conditions to establishing that commercial operations have been achieved under the terms of the power purchase agreement with FMG have been satisfied in full," the companies stated in a release. "These conditions include receiving a commercial operation certificate, successfully completing and passing certain test requirements, and obtaining all permits and approvals required from the North West Interconnected System and government agencies. The South Hedland Power Station is fully operational and able to meet all of FMG's requirements under the terms of the PPA."
