Q: For my fixed income side of my portfolio I've just been keeping cash in a high interest savings account (Achieva Financial in Manitoba). It pays 2.3% interest. I just checked the yield to maturity of BND the US Vanguard bond ETF and it's 2.3%. The YTM for ZAG the Canadian BMO bond ETF is 2.2%. Hardly seems worth paying an MER and risking price fluctuations. What do you think, am I missing something here?
Q: Hi 5i:
I have $10,000 that would like to invest in the Canadian oil patch. (Nuts eh)
Which would be better to invest in: Arc Re or Tourmaline Oil? This is for at least 5 years.

Q: Have you been able to gather any more information about the Gildan annoucement that was recently announced?
Q: I would like to sell one or both of the above for a tax loss. Which would be your preference to sell? Or should I let them both go? Would you recommend buying back after 30 days?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Q: Hello Peter
I have 2 questions on Tax Loss Strategy:
1. Would they be good tax loss candidates as I am down 22% on SQ and down 25% on NFLX , then buy back after 30 days, or would you leave them where they are.
2. When selling stock to crystallize a loss how much can one allowed to moving stock
up before the back buying price offsets benefits of tax loss.
example: Bought NFLX at $358.98 sold at $269.40 which is 25% loss.
What max price could I back again after 30 days before it offsets my benefits of tax
tax loss.
Thanks Andrew

Q: What's with the big drop of QSR in the last week or so? I am talking about two days in particular - the 10/15 823K shares 2.3% down and 10/22 (today) 725K shares 2.5% down. Both days have abnormal big volumes and big price drops. Is some major shareholders doing an exit at some negotiated prices?
Q: Hey guys ! I own both SCL.CA and MTL.CA since many years, roughly 3% of my total portfolio, I am down between 40-50 %. Like many of your subscribers, I am not very confident for the future of energy in Canada and I am seriously thinking to pull the plug on both. What would you recommend ? wait until the next earnings or flush now.
thank you !
thank you !
Q: I am considering doubling down on this stock, I know all the falling knife stories... I am being cautious. It is coming close to its 52 week low. May I have your thoughts, fundamentally and technically speaking.
Q: Hi
Any reason not to start a new position in either Ayx or Psi. I am considering both for a long term hold with expectation of high volatility for Ayx in the near term.
Thanks
Mike

Q: Hello,
I ma looking for adding more exposure to US. What would be a good healthcare/Pharmaceutical ETF for RRSP. I have about 10K to invest for 10 years. I also own VUN, ZQQ and ZIN as part of US exposure.
Thanks

Q: What is your take on above thanks ken
Q: Last week, I asked for a few suggestions to diversify outside Canada. One of you suggestions was VXUS. I already have ZDM in my portfolio and I find that it outperformed VXUS over the past 8 years by a substantial margin (84% vs. 38%) However, ZDM has one possible major disadvantage: it is thinly traded (does that matter for a small investor?). ZDM tracks MSCI but I couldn't find the info for VXUS; their Canadian website doesn't recognize VXUX (vexatious that). Do you see any other problems and are they similar?
Q: Good morning 5i team.
Keyera seems to be struggling lately. I saw a reference to Bellatrix bankruptcy as well as mention of rights issues (disputes with KML?) regarding the Alberta Crude Terminal and Baseline.
How big of an issue is Bellatrix bankruptcy for Keyera?
Can you provide any details on the issues with KML?
Thanks
Peter
Can you shed light on these issues.

Q: Tech stocks have taken a beating over the last two months, due to high valuations and a shift to value stocks. Do you foresee a continuation of this trend into tax loss selling season and further drops, then finally bottoming out into the new year, or are we now dealing with just normal volatility?
Q: TransAlta renewables seems to have good momentum and Warren Buffett has bought into the company. A good yield. Do you see it as a good income stock with a bit of growth, or would BAM be better. I already own Algonquin Power.
Q: Gentlemen,
