Q: Hello Peter and 5i team,
I have done very well with Linamar and was thinking that it might be wise to switch to Magna at this time. It seems that Magna has a bigger global footprint and a better chance of participating in the electric car movement, especially over seas. Linamar appears more focused on non electric vehicles .
I would greatly appreciate your opinion, thanks

Q: I refer Richard's question of Sept.19th
Would this work for a RRSP as well, combined my wife I have $877,000. Sell our stocks and buy equal amounts of these etf'e.
This would give us a nice income should we take it out.
Also have a larger amount in cash and TSFA based on your portfolios.
We are 60 and also have pensions and no debt
Thank you and have a great weekend.

Q: Two well established expressions are:

"Timing is everything" and "You shouldn't try to time the market"

So, on Wed the 20th, I bought my first position in Questerre Energy and today, the 21st, it's down 25.5% (so far).

I would appreciate your advice on whether it's likely to continue falling off a cliff, should I cap my loss at this point and run away or is there any reasonable expectation of a near term recovery.

Many thanks as always,

John

Q: Hi Peter,
Since Covalan Technologies is a small cap, i was thinking of trading it, but it could turn out to be a long term play. With the recent news, the stock jumped to $4.60 but has been going back and forth between 3.90 and 4.60. My average cost is 3.30. In this cases, should one simply trade it or simply hang on for more profits later given the good news release. Any idea why Pengrowth is surging over the last two days. I am not seeing any recent news and if you are able to access the recent releases, can you suggest a link please? Finally, i am thinking of boosting my GUD and BIP.UN to 5% weights which is my max per stock. Any comments. Thanks very much.

Q: Please provide your opinion on TD bank with reference to buying it on the TSX or NYSE. Since I have both a US and Canadian denominated accounts the buy can be made in either account. Is there any advantage to buying in one versus the other? Is the US listing subject to influences relative to all US banks, which currently are seen in a positive perspective with respect to the US Fed intending to raise interest rates? Although the rates are expected to rise in Canada as well, it does not seem to be as important a factor as compared to the US. At current exchange rates there is a difference in the relative value per share as well as a difference in the proximity to the 52 week high. Is there an explanation for this situation and is it significant to making in buy in US or Canada?

Q: In resubmitting my question because my browser went cold and not sure my submission went through.

Would you take up a position on equifax today? Smell position, 1.5 % or so? Do you see any merits to this? I'm thinking there could possibly be a sharp partial recovery. Please advise.

Q: A few days ago I read you dropped ENGH from your Balanced Equity Portfolio but now I cannot find reference to this on your model portfolio update page. Please remind us of which stock replaced ENGH at what weight and when was the switch made.

Thanks for your response,

Steve

Q: Hi Peter as a holder of Stb on the US side of my cash account and my TSFA,s I do have considerable cap app.as well as US cash flow which we need .
It saddens my when I see people beat on this stock that I held since 2007 and served my family well I feel they are not looking at the full picture. The current payout ratio is 60% very acceptable.
Todays results were ok
