Q: Hi team,

This is my first non-tech question in quite a while. I try to balance my tech stocks with some names in other sectors. CF came to my attention today from a TD report. It is on one of my watch lists but I haven’t followed it closely in a couple of years. TD gives it a Buy, Higher Risk rating with a target of $9.50 although I don’t find target prices very meaningful. Part of their rationale is CF’s recent purchase of U.S.-based advisory firm Petsky Prunier, who focus on mid-market segments and have a growing presence in the cannabis space for IPOs and mergers in the U.S. CF itself seems to have a strong presence in cannabis deals in Canada and potentially internationally. The cannabis segment is here to stay, regardless of the high valuations. I am not a weed guy as such, but if CF can continue to grab a good chuck of these deals, it may bode well for it.

What are the pros and cons of an investment in CF at this time? I notice you gave it a B- in your Company report last August, which is not a strong grade, but perhaps things have changed.

Thanks again.
Dave

Q: Recently you stated "We find it a bit interesting today. Management is under the gun to show it did the right thing by fighting the HSE takeover attempt. " My impression of the CEO interview on BNN last Friday was they are focusing on debt reduction with no intention of production increase. I'm pretty sure your not "a bit interested" because you expect a jump in the price of oil , management has indicated no production increase, I'm curious as to your rationale here?

Q: Great News to holders that waited
Vistra Energy (VST-N) has agreed to increase its acquisition price for Crius Energy Trust (KWH.UN-T) to $8.80 per trust unit, an increase of $1.23 per trust unit from the parties’ prior agreement.
“Vistra and Crius Energy negotiated the amendment in response to the receipt by the Crius Energy Board of Directors of an unsolicited acquisition proposal from a third party bidder dated Feb. 14, 2019 that was higher than the purchase price previously agreed by Vistra and Crius Energy,” the company stated.
